The Sankt Ludwigshafen national football team was the football team which most recently represented the micronation of Sankt Ludwigshafen, and previously represented the Alriggian autonomous territory of the same name. It was a member of the CTFA, and was run by the Ludwigger Fußball-Bund. The team was the official predecessor and successor of Lanzerwald.
The team existed three times in the FMF's history; firstly in 2020 as an autonomous territory of Alrig, secondly between late 2020 and mid-2022 as an independent nation, and thirdly in 2023 again independently.
History
Sankt Ludwigshafen applied successfully to join the FMF after the territory was founded by Alrig in 2020. Sankt Ludwigshafen left Micras later in the year after Alrig was annexed by Jingdao with the national team having played no FMF-affiliated matches, but returned independently in late 2020. They first competed in the 2021 FMF World Cup qualification rounds, finishing fourth in their six-team group with twelve points, behind Byalia on goal difference.
In the following year's CiboTap qualifiers, following a pair of first ever friendly matches against Alrig, the team finished second in their five-team group with 14 points to advance to the play-offs, where they beat Etzeland on penalties after tying on aggregate to reach the finals. At CiboTap, they were eliminated in the group stage after finishing third in their group with two points. Following the tournament, Sankt Ludwigshafen was succeeded by Lanzerwald before reverting to its old name in early 2023.
The 2023 FMF World Cup qualification rounds saw the team finish second in their six-team group with 15 points, ahead of Passio-Corum on goal difference. Sankt Ludwigshafen again left Micras later in the year.
