2007

The 2006 FMF World Cup was the inaugural tournament of the FMF World Cup, and was held in Taesong between 21 December 2006 and 7 January 2007. The fifteen competing national teams all applied successfully to be involved. The planned sixteenth competing nation, Adraisia, withdrew its team for unknown reasons after the group draw was made. The tournament's matches were played in seven stadiums in five different cities around Taesong.

The tournament was won by Beaugium, for their first ever title, who beat favourites Gaia in the final in Daegon.

Hosting

Taesong was chosen as the host of the tournament after submitting the sole application. Jang Ji-Hyo, then-FMF President, decided his home nation was suitable for hosting and announced that the host's national team would receive an automatic berth in the tournament.

Stadiums

Qualification

Due to the tournament being the first of its kind, there was no competitive qualification round and nations submitted applications in order to be involved, with each application being accepted by Jang Ji-Hyo. As the FMF was in its infancy at the time, there were no confederations with which national teams were affiliated, and so there were no regional quotas for the tournament.

Squads

Teams were required to name a sixteen-man squad for the tournament, with two goalkeepers, numbered 1 to 16. In the event of injury, teams were permitted to call-up an emergency substitute to their squad who would wear number 17.

Group stage

The group draw was made by FMF President Jang Ji-Hyo and High Prince Babs of Beaugium.
