In August 2017, the Senyan FA announced that the planned expansion of the Top League for the 2018–19 season from 8 teams to 12 teams would now occur across division league in the Senyan League. To avoid meaningless seasons in the 2017–18 season, the Senyan FA expunged all the original promotion and relegation spots that had been allocated during the 2016–17 season, instead announcing that the top 4 sides of the Second League, and all sides in the Third and Fourth leagues would be promoted up a level. As such, the results of this season's play-offs were expunged.
One play-off group would be required to take place however, to decide the 8th team in the 2017–18 Third League, so a play-off group between the runners-up of the three fifth division leagues was held, with all games taking place at the Snakepit.
