Aqabah is a subdivision of the Imperial State of Constancia, claiming land on the continent of Eura, on Micras. The project started on 6.III.1656. It should not be confused with the Aqaba metropolis, its largest city.

History

The settlement of Aqaba was pacified by Royal Constancian Armed Forces elements under Operation Debellatio, and Antistrategos (Lieutenant General) Demetrios Thesalonikis was immediately appointed Military Governor, with full plenipotentiary powers.

His son, Stefanos Themistoklis was appointed Minister for Aqabah on 13.X.1667, and held this position until his replacement by Annalisa Trevino on 13.I.1686. Darcel Slater was appointed Minister for Aqabah on 13.I.1694.

Geography

Government

Plenipotentiary authority is vested in the Minister for Aqabah, a national official appointed by the Basileus and with voice and seat, but not vote, in the Imperial Synkletos, who possesses day-to-day executive authority, with significant staff support paid for by the Imperial Government.

Representation from Aqabah to the Synkletos began with the Tenth Synkletos, convened on 22.VI.?.

Armed Forces

See Main Article: Imperial Constancian Armed Forces

The primary armed force in the Aqabah consists of the Home Guard, which are the residents of the area in arms and under direction of commissioned officers, in accordance with the Armed Forces Act 1634. With the establishment of the State Protection Authority under the office of the Autokrator of Constancia, who armed and uniformed units from that Authority were detailed to serve within the area, aside from active-duty units of the Imperial Constancian Armed Forces already present for internal security purposes. Reorganization of the Imperial Constancian Army in 1693-1694 resulted in the creation of the 505th Army for the Aqabah Province, initially comprising the 1634th ESB-Jörmungandr Division, composed of the 1800th (Daniel Dravot) Brigade and the 1668th (Timūr al-Osman Taraghay) Brigade.

From 1695, cadres began training reservists resident in the area to eventually form the 642nd Brigade and 905th Brigade, resulting into the 250th (Sand Devil) Division.

Economy

Aqabah remains the economic powerhouse of the Imperial State, thanks to its location in relation to the Gulf of Aqaba, as well as the location of its primary city, Aqaba, which remains the primary seaport and political, commercial, cultural, and economic hub of the Imperial State. It produces approximately one-third of national GDP.
