The Volunteer Grenadier Brigade "Nordstorm" (Cibolan Saxon: Freiwilligen-Grenadier-Brigade "Nordsturm") is a Mondosphere-Hurmu combat formation of the Hurmu Fyrð.
History
Raised at Ny-Zanzibar during the 1719–1720 Hurmu civil conflict for operations within Keltian Hurmu in support of the Senate of the Lakes, the brigade was originally intended to be comprised of pro-Senate volunteers from Samhold and Karnamark, supplemented by personnel from various Mondosphere countries, principally Etzeland and Riskai; however two regiments from the Army of Karnamark were seconded to the formation following that army's defection on 6-7.I.1720 AN.
For political reasons, EMMP leader and Assembly member Greta Mondosdottra assumed command of the brigade on 7.II.1720 AN. In view of her youth and lack of military experience, actual control of the brigade is believed to remain in the hands of her Mondosphere staff officers.
As of 1726 AN, the brigade has been awarded status within the Hurmudan Guard Corps and accordingly placed under the 3rd (Keltian) Guards Division for administrative purposes, albeit with no change to its former operational autonomy.
The Brigade was employed as a heavy assault formation in support of local forces during two crucial years of the Purification ov Normandie (1744–1745).
In 1755 AN, the 186th Guards Volunteer Grenadier Regiment "Karnamark" at Datret was selected to undergo operational conversion to the Stridsvagn II following the release of forty-seven examples of the main battle tanks for service by the Inspectorate of the Fyrð. Some back and forth ensued between the brigade commander, Greta Mondosdottra, and the Minister for the Fyrð regarding the implications of "operational conversion". Batbayar Barlas-Osman, being somewhat unused to the focused attentions of a notoriously wilful, indeed forceful, fifty-five year old, duly aceded to the counterproposal provided by Greta. The 186th would instead receive now receive eighteen Stridsvagn II, enough for a squadron, whilst the 185th ("Samhold") would receive another eighteen to replace the aging B-III's that had been in their inventory since the 1730s. The remaining eleven tanks would be assigned to a new formation within the parent 3rd Guards Division.

Uniform
The basic uniform of the brigade follows the customary pattern of the Hurmu Fyrd, albeit with some significant instances of local customisation.
In addition to a standard issue uniform that consisted of olive-drab fatigue overalls, an olive-drab or black t-shirt, and a light blue beret, members who have served or trained with the Samhold Fyrd wear the Samhold shield on the upper sleeve (blue with a white oak tree).
Additionally, personnel of the Samhold Regiment have the white oak tree in black on one side of the collar, and the cuff title "Samhold" on the left sleeve. Those of the Karnamark Regiment have a white cross on a collar patch and the cuff title "Karnamark", while members of the other regiments in the Brigade have the cuff title "Nordstorm".
