The Treaty between the Senate of the Lakes, on behalf of the Order of the Holy Lakes in right of Hurmu, and the High Presidium of the Benacian Union on the transfer of sovereignty of Samholdsøya to Hurmu and the District of the Warring Islands to the Benacian Union, also known as the Treaty of Chryse, is a treaty between Hurmu and the Benacian Union, signed in Chryse on 15.VI.1709 by Prime Minister Daniyal al-Osman for Hurmu and Foreign Commissioner Ayesha al-Osman of the Benacian Union.

Map of the land-traded islands

In summary, it is a land-trade agreement between Hurmu and the Benacian Union, whereby Hurmu gives the Benacian Union the Warring Islands, and the Benacian Union gives Hurmu Samholdsøya – to better have our own spheres of influence. The transfer of sovereignty will occur on 1.I.1710. The treaty fulfilled secret undertakings made as part of the Osman–Spiik Accord negotiated at Botha on 9.IX.1703 AN, between Ayesha al-Osman, Adam al-Osman, Daniyal al-Osman and Jan Spiik, which had provided for generous materiel support for the Hurmu Peace Corps during the Barikalus-Hurmu war.

Moreover, the Order of the Holy Lakes will continue to own the rights to the coat of arms and flag of the Warring Islands (so that they can be regranted someone/something else if desired), and continue to hold ownership over Villa Hurmu outside Port Esther. The Benacian Union will also fund such Hurmu citizens who wish to leave the Warring Islands upon the handover, and aid with logistical matters of the move.

During the ratification process in Hurmu, Senator Mondo Etzeterra spoke on behalf of Hurmu patriots resident in the Warring Islands. It was important, Mondo emphasised, that the patriots of the Warring Islands be given the opportunity to keep their communities somewhat intact. As such, the Senate also agreed to erect a town in Samhold for all such patriots returning to Hurmu who desire to live together. The Senate finally ratified the treaty on 9.VII.1709, alongside a bill outlining the "Mondo Plan" for repatriation.
