The New Alexandrian general election, 1693 is the first general election of the Federation of Nouvelle Alexandrie after its formation in 1685 AN. It was held from 13.XIV.1693 AN to 15.XIV.1693 AN, with 112,957,638 participating voters, setting turnout at 74%. The election was originally scheduled for the end of 1689 AN, but political instability and the nation's rapid expansion presented serious logistical and organizational challenges that prompted the election to be rescheduled repeatedly. Delays in securing the national elections system, registering voters, and helping new Regions build their own election capabilities led to the resignation of the Federation's first President of the Government Alejandro Campos, who was succeeded by Jean-Michel Lavaud.

Under the Proclamation of Punta Santiago, issued in 1685 AN and amended and ratified in 1689 AN by the Federal Constituent Assembly, the Federation had an interim Government led by the Coalition for Federal Progress. The date of the election is set by a fixed election date law that was passed by the Federal Constituent Assembly in order to guarantee unanimous passage of a resolution that extended the term of the interim Government and the Assembly until 1694 AN.

The election took place across all ten Regions, each with its own number of seats based on population, under proportional representation. The election resulted in the Federal Humanist Party winning the election but coming just below the number of seats needed in the Federal Assembly to have a majority. The centrist Cambio Democratico came second, followed by the center-left Progressive Federalists. The anarcho-communist Digger's Society secured enough votes in every Region to seize 15 seats as the smallest party in the Federal Assembly.

The King appointed FHP leader Augustus Strong as "formador", who then sought a coalition with the Progressive Federalists. Negotiations were able to bear fruit, but on his way home from coalition negotiations, the leader of the Progressive Federalists, Marcel de la Croix, died in a tragic car accident. There was an aborted attempt to put together a grand center-left coalition, which would have secured a majority. This attempt failed as De la Croix decided to accept the offer from Strong as the first "formador" to enter into a coalition.

After the sudden death of the leader of the Progressive Federalist Party, the other parties came together to establish a national unity government, based on an unprecedented common power-sharing agreement that will see the Presidency and Vice-Presidency of the Government alternated between the Federal Humanist Party and Cambio Democratico every year the coalition government is in office.
