On the morning of 17.IX.1743 AN and the afternoon of 19.IX, explosions occurred on two islands in the Sendai Atoll, Ssamaritan Islands, Oriental Hispanioéire Taemhwan, namely Izu Island and Rampayan Island. Two series of bombings occurred at the Roman Catholic Cathedral of Our Lady of Izu Island which caused 42 deaths and 148 injuries, and at the Bait As-Syakir Mosque on Rampayan Island which caused 204 deaths and 134 injuries. This bombing is known as the Good Friday bombing, it occurred 4 days after the Scattered Islands status referendum held on 17-22.VII.1743 AN for separation from Oriental Taemhwan and the establishment of the Scattered Islands Special Self-Governing Territory. It is believed that following the referendum result in favour of Rampayan, Izu and Marcus joining the Scattered Islands, an armed movement known as the Save Three Sendai Islands Alliance (SATSIA) was formed afterwards, and that the movement carried out the attacks on the two houses of worship, and that the armed movement was held responsible. The President of Phinbella, Hang Wilhelm Aloysius Frederiksen responded by issuing an order of "all-out war" against SATSIA. The two series of bombings were widely condemned by the realm and also by the Order of the Holy Lakes.

Background

This bombing took place after the Scattered Islands status referendum held on 17-23.VII.1743 AN to secede from Oriental Taemhwan and create the Special Self-Governing Territory of the Scattered Islands under the jurisdiction of the Federation. This territory would include the Scattered Islands, Isla del Tropico, the islands of the Amsterdam Islands Municipality and several islands within the Ssamaritan Islands (including Coëtivy, Kagayan de Ssamaritan, Tepen, Karayuki-san Atoll), particularly in Sendai Atoll where the two islands are located. Of the entire Sendai Atoll including the city of Sendai, only three islands (Rampayan, Izu and Marcus) voted to join the Scattered Islands through a referendum. All three islands voted more than 60 percent each to join the new territory, also receiving the approval of the entire Ssamaritan Islands district. As a result of the decision, the three islands within Sendai Atoll were legally merged with the Scattered Islands, and the atoll was divided into two different jurisdictions: under the Oriental Taemhwan SAR and the Federation. Politario who ruled Oriental Taemhwan also accepted the results of this referendum, and this referendum was not made by militants, but rather at the insistence of local leaders for a long time, until the Organic Law of the Scattered Islands was created.

The referendum result in favour of the three islands joining the Scattered Islands was not welcomed by the "NO" campaign group who strongly opposed the inclusion of Sendai Atoll in the new territory. As a result of dissatisfaction with the decision, an armed movement was formed soon after. The Save Three Sendai Islands Alliance or SATSIA was formed to prevent the three islands from joining the Scattered Islands. This movement was founded by a member of the "NO" campaign in Sendai Atoll named Aziz Jakurim Xi'an De Fai who is the mix Suuk-Tieyan-Yehudi extremist. The armed movement is believed to have received funding from a heretical movement known as the fake Phinbella Sultanate which was defeated by the Phinbellan Armed Forces in the War of Delusion.

Attack on Bait As-Syakir Mosque

Perpetrators and suspects' identities

SATSIA is the mastermind behind the bombings of two houses of worship on two islands, and the movement must take responsibility for the bombings, which they say were carried out by "two martyred knights" against a "pro-separatist stronghold". The Phinbellan Army, the Hurmu Constabulary and Hurmu Fyrð, pro-Scattered Islands separatist groups and pro-peace advocates blame SATSIA for causing the victims of the two different religions, especially those in the houses of worship. A military intelligence operation was conducted by the Taemhwanian Garrison at both locations to identify the real cause of the bombings. Minami "Zhai Hao Lian" Kaufman, who is of mixed Tieyan-Yehudi descent and a member of the armed movement, is alleged to have planted the bomb at the front door of the church, and he is also the same person who planted the bomb at the front and back doors of the mosque. Police and the army have identified Minami as the main suspect in the bombing. Aziz has also been named as another prime suspect in connection with the bombing plot, it is understood that they are both linked to the false and misguided Phinbella Sultanate.

On 24.IX, Aziz and Minami were assisted by a driver from Rampayan Island, taken to Sendai International Airport to flee to an unknown destination. The operation to search for and arrest the two suspects was carried out after the bombing occurred, while all the injured victims were at Sendai General Hospital for several periods for follow-up treatment.

On 10.X, the main suspect, Minami, along with six accomplices surrendered to authorities at the Queen Mavuika International Airport, Singapore Street, Kōkai at 19:28 NAT following a heavy arrest operation carried out by the police and army. The other six accomplices were identified as: Xie Hao Zi, Rem Su Zhan, Freedy Netanyahu, Isshou Barzilai, Kasaoka Yagami and Muhammad Zulfurqan Mas Taik. The six suspects arrested were also involved in SATSIA activities. At the same time, Aziz along with other SATSIA members managed to escape from authorities at the same airport, it is understood that they were fleeing to seek shelter to settle in Singapore Street for a long time before being suggested to flee to Kipei, Desaremix or Sabor. The Phinbella Federal Police have filed murder charges against seven of the suspects and 14 other suspects including Aziz are still at large.

Investigation

Reactions

Phinbella

The incident caused various reactions throughout Phinbella, The Istana, Negara Awan issued a statement that no mercy would be shown to the perpetrators. President Hang Wilhelm expressed his anger at the opposition to the inclusion of the three islands of Sendai Atoll after the referendum and stressed that he would fight to the death with the SATSIA movement and also with the parties involved such as the Sultanate of Phinbella who had been branded as terrorists during the War of Delusion. He further said that he had ordered all units in the PhAF including the Taemhwanian Garrison to strengthen the security of the people in the two locations of the incident and specifically the people of Phinbella. The President also issued an "all-out war order" to the Phinbella Federal Armed Forces and Police as well as authorities at airports, ports and border control posts against SATSIA and its accomplices. The Istana also stated that the bombings on the two islands in Sendai Atoll provided "more reason" to maintain martial law throughout the proposed territory of the Scattered Islands. On 4.X, the President departed from Pos Appat International Airport to Sendai International Airport to visit the survivors of the bombings at Sendai General Hospital, he also visited the two bombing sites the next day (on 5.X) by taking a boat to the two islands, he had the opportunity to meet and socialize with the residents of the two islands who are of different religions. The Election Commission (PhEC) described the post-referendum opposition carried out by SATSIA as something very extreme, and the PhEC understood that the armed group had previously demonstrated in front of Sendai City Hall using violence, which caused injuries to civilians, and that this violence was continued by SATSIA with bombings in the islands.

The flags of Phinbellan, Taemhwanian and the Scattered Islands will be flown at half-mast starting 22.IX.

Taemhwanian Garrison confirmed that the President issued a complete curfew imposed on all islands in the northeastern Ssamaritan Islands district, including Sendai Atoll and nearby islands where participating in the referendum.

The Taemhwanian government under the leadership of Chief Executive Michael van de Krule condemned the bombing and in the "strongest terms", described it as an opposition to secession that fueled Taemhwanian internal violence. The Taemhwanian government has also provided financial assistance to all 282 victims including families who survived the bombing, each receiving 2,000 florins in cash and each victim's family receiving 10,000 to 15,000 florins.

Local political parties in the Scattered Islands also condemned the incident. The Kreole Party, which was involved in the peaceful "Option A" campaign, was the first to condemn the situation, its president, Irukawa Masaki, said: "The leadership of the pro-Scattered Islands in the Federation faction joins peace-loving individuals in strongly condemning the twin bombings of the Cathedral and Mosque."

Order of the Holy Lakes

The Secretariat of State condemned this deadly incident, as news of this had reached the Order on 20.IX. As the Order was concerned about internal security, the Order insisted that the tension was normal and not the violence that had killed over 200 people. The Secretariat informed the Phinbellan government that the government under Yvar's leadership was able to maintain peace in its territory, the Order needed to change the government in Phinbella to do so if this government did not do anything, as the government's first and foremost duty was to ensure the safety of Phinbellans. The Secretariat also required the Phinbellan government to provide regular updates on how to ensure the safety of the people in the affected regions and across the entire realm of Phinbella and the Phineonesian realms.

First Secretary of State Velibor Jovanović-Smičić made a live televised speech:

My fellow citizens,

Tonight, we grieve as one Order of the Holy Lakes, whichever realm or nation we belong to.

Earlier today, a series of brutal, cowardly attacks were carried out on the peaceful community of the Scattered Islands. More than two hundred of our fellow citizens – men, women, and children who had only recently exercised their sacred right to vote in a local referendum – were taken from us in an instant. Their dreams, their hopes, their futures were stolen by an act of senseless violence.

To the families who have lost loved ones: Karmen and I send you our deepest condolences. We cannot begin to measure the pain you feel. We stand with you in your sorrow, and we will hold your loved ones forever in the heart of this nation. We declare peace upon their memory. Their voices, though silenced here on Micras, will continue to echo in our national conscience.

To the survivors — those who now bear scars both seen and unseen—know this: you are not alone. My thoughts, my prayers, and my steadfast commitment are with you. We will walk this road of recovery together, for as long as it takes.

I want to be clear: these attacks were not only an assault on innocent lives. They were an assault on the very foundation of our democracy — the right of free people to gather, to debate, to decide their future peacefully and openly. Violence will never erase the will of a free people. It will never drown out the voice of democracy.

I have directed the Secretariat's agencies to immediately offer all necessary support to the Phinbellan government. I am calling on President Hang Wilhelm Aloysius Frederiksen, Chairman Yvar Onigawa Worthyngton, and other realm officials to take every measure needed to safeguard the peace, the safety, and the security of every citize — not just on the Scattered Islands, but across the Phinbellan realm. The Secretariat's support will be swift, coordinated, and enduring.

We are an Order of order, not violence. Of freedom, not fear. Of unity, not division. Of laws, not destruction. And while today we mourn, tomorrow we work – to heal, to rebuild, and to ensure that those who committed this atrocity are brought to justice.

I am angry — angry at those who believe that bombs and terror can silence the human spirit. Angry that such hatred could be aimed at a community exercising its democratic rights. But I tell you this: our anger will not consume us. It will not divide us. It will fuel our determination to protect the values that make this nation a beacon of hope in a troubled world.

We will remember the fallen – not as victims, but as heroes of democracy. We will honour their lives with action, their memory with resilience, and their sacrifice with an unbreakable commitment to the principles of freedom, justice, and peace.

May God bless the souls we have lost. May God comfort the families who mourn.

Moreover the First Secretary ordered all flags across the Order to be flown on half mast.
