The Sovereign Confederation national football team is the football team which currently represents the Benacian Union autonomous region of the Sovereign Confederation, and previously represented the Elwynnese autonomous region and independent nation of the same name. It is a member of the WMFA.
History
The team was founded in mid-2019 after the Sovereign Confederation successfully claimed on Micras after seceding from Shireroth. Soon afterwards, the team competed in the inaugural Vulture Cup, finishing bottom their group with one point.
The Sovereign Confederation was annexed by Elwynn in early 2020, but maintained its separate FMF membership. In the year's Benacia Cup qualifiers, the team finished third in their four-team group with six points.
Ahead of the 2021 World Cup qualifiers, in late 2020, the team entered the inaugural edition of the Raspur Pact Nations League and competed in its bottom tier, finishing top of their four-team group with 13 points to be promoted. In the qualifiers, the team placed third in their five-team group with twelve points.
In early 2022, prior to the year's Benacia Cup qualifiers, the Sovereign Confederation became an autonomous region of the Benacian Union following the merger of Elwynn with the Unified Governorates and retained its FMF membership. In the qualifiers themselves, the team finished second in their five-team group with 16 points, behind Cisamarra in the automatic qualification spot on goal difference, to advance to the play-offs, where they beat Batavia on away goals after tying on aggregate to reach the finals.
