TBD

The New Alexandrian general election of 1754 is a scheduled federal election in the Federation of Nouvelle Alexandrie for all 749 seats in the Federal Assembly. It will be the seventh general election since the Federation's renaming in 1693 AN and the third held under the expanded 749-seat Federal Assembly.

The election will determine whether Premier Jose Manuel Montero's Federal Humanist Party (FHP), governing since 1750 AN in coalition with the Civic Governance Alliance (CGA), retains power or is replaced by the opposition. The Alliance for a Just Nouvelle Alexandrie (AJNA), led by Leila Bensouda's Democratic Socialist Party (DSP), enters the election as the largest opposition bloc. The Federal Consensus Party (FCP), led by Francisco Gabaza since IX.1751 AN, seeks to recover from its historic collapse in the 1749 election. The CGA, formed during the post-election crisis of 1749 AN-1750 AN, contests a general election for the first time as an independent party.

Composition of the Federal Assembly

Electoral system

The 1754 general election will be conducted under the electoral framework established by the Federal Elections Act, 1700. The Federation's proportional representation system allocates the 749 seats of the Federal Assembly among twelve regional constituencies corresponding to the Regions. The electoral system uses the Sainte-Lague method for converting votes into seats. A legal threshold of 2% of total votes in a Region is required for any party to gain representation. Independent candidates are exempt from this requirement.

Voting eligibility and registration

All New Alexandrian citizens aged 18 and older by election day are eligible to vote. The Federal Elections Act, 1700 mandates automatic registration upon turning 18 and permits same-day registration at polling places with proper identification.

Seat apportionment

Voting process

The New Alexandrian electoral system uses a dual ballot approach, with voters receiving both a Party List Ballot for selecting their preferred political party and an Independent Candidate Ballot for choosing non-affiliated candidates. Polling stations operate from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM local time during designated election days.

Government formation

Following certification of results, if a party achieves an absolute majority (375 seats or more), its leader is traditionally invited by the King to form a government. In cases where no party holds a majority, negotiations between parties may lead to coalition government or minority government with support agreements. The prospective President of the Government must secure approval from the Federal Assembly through a confidence vote before taking office.
