The Wakara People's Party (Wakara: Wakara Nitaino Areyto, WPP) is a New Alexandrian regional political party in the Region of Boriquén. The party is considered left-wing, and advocates for Wakara rights, keeping the Plan of Hato Rey, and the integration of Boriquén and the Wakara people into New Alexandrian society. Its main ideology, created and advanced by its founders and former co-leaders Mayani Guacanagari and Beatriz Daguao, is known as Guaitiao progressivism.
Formed in 1722 AN after the admission of Boriquén as Region of Nouvelle Alexandrie, the WPP first competed in the 1723 general elections, winning 34 seats in the Federal Assembly and taking control of the regional government of Boriquén in local elections. In 1728 AN, it became the fourth largest party in the Federal Assembly and provided confidence and supply to the Federal Humanist Party minority government. The WPP operates only out of the Region of Boriquén. Between 1733 AN and 1744 AN, the WPP was part of the federal leftist alliance called the Alliance for a Just Nouvelle Alexandrie, which became the Official Opposition in 1739 AN.
In late 1743 AN, founding co-leaders Mayani Guacanagari and Beatriz Daguao announced their retirement from party leadership after more than two decades guiding the party. Following their announcement, the WPP held an internal party congress in III.1744 AN where Gueyacán Vázquez was elected as the new party leader, marking a significant transition in the party's leadership structure from the dual co-leadership model to a single leader approach.
