The Mercury general election of 2010 was held in June 2010 to elect the first Mercurian Parliament. Voting took place in 200 constituencies, each electing one representative, using the instant-runoff voting system.
Overview
The election was the first to be held since Mercury's claim on Micras. Previously, the National Party had led an interim government. Three parties contested all 200 seats, in addition to which, a number of candidates not affiliated to any party also stood under an "Independent" label.
Parties
- National Party – led by Joe Foxon, the incumbent President. The National Party had formed a government following Mercury's claim on Micras in order to organise the elections.
- Mercurian Labour Party – led by Mary Lipton.
- Conservative Party – led by James Cardley.
