The United Isles national football team is the football team which currently represents the Benacian Union autonomous territory of the United Isles, and previously represented the Unified Governorates autonomous territory and independent nation of the same name. It is a member of the WMFA.
History
The team was founded in mid-2020 after the United Isles successfully claimed on Micras by seceding from the Unified Governorates of Benacia. The United Isles was re-annexed by the Unified Governorates later in the year, with the team retaining its separate FMF membership. They first competed in the 2021 FMF World Cup qualification rounds, finishing fourth in their five-team group with four points.
In early 2022, prior to the year's Benacia Cup qualifiers, the United Isles became an autonomous territory of the Benacian Union following the merger of the Unified Governorates with Elwynn and retained its FMF membership. In the qualifiers themselves, the team finished bottom of their five-team group after losing all of their matches, which led to an invite to the 2022 Emerging Nations Cup. In the Emerging Nations Cup, they won their quarter-final before being beaten in the semi-finals by the Ecclesiastical Mountain Republic on penalties and losing to hosts Forajasaki to place fourth overall. In late 2022, the United Isles competed in the inaugural All-Union Festival Tournament, finishing bottom of their group after three losses.
