His parents met at a conference in Aqaba, Constancia. He has a younger brother, Xavier, a botanist, and a younger sister, Helena, who is married.

He is a Constancian national by investiture, Knight Commander of the Order of the Imperial State of Constancia during the 1748 Extraordinary Investiture.
