Draco Sanchez is a Senyan football manager who is currently the manager of Floria.
Early Life
Sanchez was born in 1974 in Moroni. In 1993 he moved to Cherry Trees in Craitland, where he became employed as an engineer, whilst also coaching junior football. In 2012 he moved back to Senya.
Career
Sanchez was announced as the manager of Politzëa in June 2012. He was sacked midway through the season after a poor run of results which saw Politzëa drop to fifth in the league.
On 9 December 2012, he was announced as the new manager and head coach of the Tiana national football team.
His first major challenge for Tiana came during qualifying for the 2013 FMF World Cup. Tiana were drawn alongside Lolland and Normark as well as four-time champions Craitland. Despite the group being tough, Sanchez guided Tiana to a respectable second place finish. That was enough to guide the Tianans to the 2013 EMU Championships where they finished bottom of their group. Later in 2013, he gained his first title as a manger, when he oversaw a 1–0 victory over his nation of birth, Senya to give Tiana their first ever competition win.
Sanchez helped Tiana to a third place finish in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, behind Senya and Lakkvia. Tiana left Micras in early 2014.
In late 2014, he was announced as the head coach of Fort Kolgrad, where guided them to a 3rd place finish in their World Cup qualifying group. In early 2016, he was announced as the new Senyan manager.
Sanchez achieved almost immediate success with the Senyan national team, winning the 2016 Copa Apollonia, which was Senya's first major trophy. Subsequently, Sanchez guided them to the 2017 FMF World Cup final as hosts, which Senya lost 2–1 to Tellia. In 2018, Sanchez guided Senya to a third final, this time of the 2018 FMF Confederations Cup, where they again lost 2–1, this time to Birgeshir. However, after a poor start in the group stage of the 2018 Copa Apollonia, Sanchez resigned after two group games, having received death threats from the Naldas. Senya went on to win the Copa Apollonia without Sanchez in charge.
Following the Copa Apollonia, he was announced as head coach of the Florian side Northcliff United. With Northcliff United in his first season in charge, he oversaw the powerhouse to complete an almost perfect season with only two draws against Westlake Town and Newmarsh Rangers stopping the team's impressive record. Sanchez also oversaw the team winning the Florian Cup for the first-ever time. However, in Apollonian competition, Sanchez and United would suffer heartache as Northcliff United were only moments away from reaching the AEFA Champions' League final in its first-ever appearance in the tournament when Nemanja Milojević scored with seconds to go sending Plava Zvezda Grendbej through to the final, winning 3–2 on aggregate.
After an impressive stint as Northcliff United boss, Sanchez would be invited to the Floria national team role midway through the 2020-21 Season due to Russell Jordan stepping down to join Ostville Wednesday. Sanchez got to a slow start with a draw in a friendly against Tellia and a defeat to Senya but would lead Floria to an outstanding victory against Mercury in February. Sanchez would then lead Floria to an inaugural Raspur Pact Nations League title but was heavily criticised after the tournament as Floria would not score a single goal in the Finals tournament in Sanama and needed to beat both Alduria and Elwynn to bring home the silverware. After the tournament, Sanchez announced that he would step down as head coach after the 2021 FMF World Cup.
Personal life
Sanchez is married to Jenny Sanchez (née Louise), a teacher from Amokolia that he met in Cherry Trees in 1997, and married in August 2000 in a small ceremony in Cherry Trees. They have four children, Robert (born 26 February 2000), twins Jennifer and Alison (born 18 March 2003) and Alexander (born 8 November 2004).
