Sindre Nemnai (1560–1602) was a Hurmu artist (painter) and statesman who led Hurmu, from 1592 as Chairman of the Senate of Hurmu, through independence after the Jacobist coup in Elwynn (1597) until his eventual murder by Sisera, Mrs Donder and Elsa Donder during what became known as the Hurmu genocide in 1602.

Born in 1550, Sindre Nemnai grew up in the village of Skare on the shore of Lake Nemb. He had very little concentration for school, and fell often behind, though his teachers were quick to discover the artistic qualities in him. He developed these skills and held his first exhibition in 1577, at the age of 17. The next year he was given a scholarship to study art at the People's Academy of Elwynn campus in Caligae, Cape Farewell, where he studied for a bachelor's degree in art. During this time, he exhibited several times around Elwynn, Amokolia and Hurmu. Enrolled to the master's programme in fine arts at Huyenkula University 1581–1582, receiving his diploma a year later due to investigations of plagiarism (it was later found that a second student had in fact plagiarised Sindre).

He was elected to the Huyenkula City Council for the student constituency in 1582, reelected twice, and then elected to the Legislature of the Lake District in 1585. Advanced in the political cadres, becoming vice chairman of the culture committee in 1586. After the death of the chairman of that committee, he was unopposed in being elected the replacement.

After a rouse of popular speeches throughout Hurmu 1586–1588, he was one of Hurmu's most popular and well-known politicians, and he was thus elected to the chairmanship of the Hurmu legislature in 1592. When the coup of Jacobus Loki led to the disruption of freedoms across the Elwynnese Union (in which Hurmu was a member), the legislature decided, with reluctance, to declare Hurmu independent in 1597. As such, Sindre became Hurmu's head of state ex post officio when the legislature was reinaugurated as the Senate of the Lakes. As head of state, he led Hurmu's diplomatic corps, ensuring good and stable relations with Natopia, Stormark, Normark, and Shireroth.

He could not however stop the invasion in 1602 which led to the Hurmu genocide. During the calamity, he was murdered by Mrs Donder and Elsa Donder, on the instruction of Sisera, traitors to the Hurmu nation.

His remains were never found. He died aged 43.
