Roulf de Bayeaux (born 1699), or Roulf I as he also is known, is the Duke of Normandie. He is the twentieth Duke of Normandie. Roulf de Bayeaux ascended the throne in 1751 AN following the abdication of Theodoric van Orton, in a staged professional wrestling match. He had served as Commander of the East during the Purification of Normandie. In 1757 AN, following expansion into southern territories, he became known as the Conqueror of the South.

Biography

Early life

Roulf de Bayeaux was born in 1699 AN in Qadis, Barikalus (formerly Arbor). His family had moved to the Arbor Islands due to the fall of Stormark and the Batavian Revolution. His mother's name was xxxxx, and his father's name was xxxxx. His father ran a leather goods shop and frequently hunted furs in the mountains of Arbor. The Bayeaux family came from the city of Bayeaux in Normandie, from which they took their name. Roulf de Bayeux was born in Arbor, in the Apollonian lands. His family remembered nothing of the Keltian Arbor. Despite the increasing influence of Craitism, Roulf de Bayeux's family maintained their Nazarene faith. Roulf faced war at a young age, and his father returned home as a war veteran. Roulf's family fled the oppression of the Farooqite Caliphate and moved to Craitabad, but returned to Qadis when Barikalus was occupied by foreign powers. Roulf de Bayeux enrolled in a primary school in Qadis in 1706 AN. He finished primary school in 1711 AN and enrolled in a secondary school in Qadis. He graduated from secondary school in Qadis in 1714 AN and enrolled in a high school in Qadis. However, in 1715 AN, his family moved from Qadis to Gharnata. He finished high school in Turtushah in 1718 AN. In his senior year of high school, he trained himself athletically and attended a sports school.

Roulf found the facilities in Barikalus, which had become a princely state of Çakaristan, inadequate and enrolled in a sports academy in Keruliya. However, he was called up to the army due to the Sanpo-Çakar War, went to Skerry, and returned without engaging in any combat. He then resumed his studies at the sports academy in Keruliya and specialized in wrestling. He knew Sanpantul from the war years, and after completing his sports academy studies, he enrolled in a professional wrestling development school in Kipei. He then attended another development school in Ofū. Finally, in 1727 AN, he made his debut in the professional wrestling arena, having signed with Sanpantul Wrestling Entertainment.

Professional Wrestling career

In 1727 AN, he competed for the Two Islands Championship but was knocked out in the semi-finals by his opponent xxxxx. In 1728 AN, he tried again but lost once more after being thrashed by xxxxx and his team in the final. In 1729 AN, he won another title, the Unconquerable Belt, from his opponent xxxxx and defended it for 200 days. In 1731 AN, he took the Two Islands Belt from xxxx and defended it for 130 days. In 1731 AN, he took another title, the Undisputed Championship Belt, from xxxxx and defended it for 75 days. In 1732 AN, he regained the Undisputed Championship Belt from xxxxx and defended it for 437 days, a record in Sanpanese wrestling history. In 1733 AN, he took the Tiger Belt from xxxxx for the first time and defended it for 181 days. In 1733 AN, he regained the Two Islands Belt from xxxxx and defended it for 53 days. In 1734 AN, he collectively defended the Star Belt, Tiger Belt, and Two Islands Belt, holding them for 50 days, 146 days, and 211 days respectively. In 1735 AN, he suffered a critical calf injury and was sidelined for a period.

He returned in 1736 AN, reclaiming the Tiger Belt from xxxxx and defending it for only seven days. In 1737 AN, he regained the Two Islands Belt from xxxxx and defended it for 127 days. In 1738 AN, he fought for the Star Belt, winning it back in a group match against The Crown and defending it for 365 days. In 1739 AN, he regained the Tiger Belt from xxxxx and defended it for 74 days. In 1740 AN, Roulf failed to win any belts, his most significant achievement being reaching the semi-finals of the Two Islands Belt. His contract with Sanpantul Wrestling Entertainment was terminated in 1740 AN. Roulf de Bayeaux later moved to Amaland.

His years in Amaland

Roulf de Bayeux moved to Ville-de-la-Mer in Amaland in 1740 AN. He continued wrestling in towns with Norman diaspora populations. Unlike his earlier days of fame, Roulf de Bayeux wrestled in bars. He changed his stage name to The Iron Duke. Bar wrestling became popular in the region's underground culture thanks to The Iron Duke, and people began paying to watch Roulf. The bar matches between Orton Mount and The Iron Duke were very popular. In 1740 AN, Orton Mount won the local mansion belt and defended it against The Iron Duke for thirty days. However, later that year, The Iron Duke regained the belt and defended it again for 180 days, but lost it to his opponent xxxxx. Orton won another local mansion belt in 1741 and defended it for 103 days, but lost it to The Iron Duke. The Iron Duke defended this belt for 112 days but lost it to Orton Mount in 1742 AN. In 1742 AN, while Orton and the Iron Duke were fighting over the local mansion arch, the platform collapsed, and both sustained minor injuries. In 1743 AN, both disappeared. Then, in 1744 AN, it was revealed that they were under the command of the NRA. Theodoric van Orton had become an organization leader, while Roulf de Bayeaux had become the Commander of the East.

Purification of Normandie

The NRA had begun expanding from the Ortonia region towards the Nouvelle Bajoccas region. In the autumn of 1745 AN, the fighting was fierce on the Rohan-Falaise Gothic Line. Troops under Roulf de Bayeaux advanced towards Rohan, but the battle there became a stalemate. Rohan's medieval and narrow streets prevented the introduction of heavy fortifications, thus leading the KRM under Hælæif Kaupmannsson into a stalemate. Not wanting to waste time in Rohan, Roulf's troops almost immediately withdrew and launched a raid towards Falaise. Due to the KRM's central operations and war preparations in the region, the battle at Falaise ended in failure. Hælæif Kaupmannsson had destroyed critical surrounding roads to defend the city and effectively utilized the medieval inner city walls. Falaise had not been claimed by any country since the Fall of Stormark, thus allowing the city to maintain its Vanic habitat.

Although Roulf himself did not fight on the southern front, he directed his troops to Karum, which was in a dire situation, but the NRA and Karumic fighters in Karum were unsuccessful. The governor of Karum fled, and the entire city became Vanic. The advance of the Vanics under Athils Valisson was not limited to Karum but also foreshadowed the future war with Roulf. With the establishment of the EANN and Athils Valisson's appointment as commander of the ZZ Battalion, Roulf de Bayeux responded by joining the Hurmu Fyrd, gaining a significant position within the Normandokarum Fyrd.

Athils won all the close-quarters battles against Roulf's troops, and Athils' ZZ Battalion advanced towards Quimper. Roulf de Bayeux sent his own troops directly to defend the city. Roulf's troops had taken up positions in the suburban neighborhoods known as "cottars." The typical characteristic of cottars was their haphazard and tightly packed construction, making them easily labyrinthine. EANN attempted to target the slopes where the cottars were built with mortars, but when the KRM, under EANN's command, tried to advance on the cottar hills, they encountered a highly complex network of sewers. The struggle over the cottars between EANN and Ortonist Normandie lasted for months. Roulf's troops won the battle in the autumn of 1745. Normandie had won the Siege of Quimper, where EANN had sacrificed all its resources, thanks to the Ortonists' diverse defensive capabilities. EANN had suffered heavy casualties in this siege and would likely not have been able to retain its own territory. In the winter of 1746, Roulf de Bayeux first conquered Nouvelle Bajoccas, then Rohan, and finally Falaise. Although Nouvelle Bajoccas was captured, the ease with which Rohan and Falaise fell, despite considerable defensive opportunities, surprised the Normandokarum Fyrd. By spring, news of victories at Grisboeuf and Grenoble arrived, and the Eastern Front was victorious for Normandy.

Following the end of the war in the east, pogroms occurred in Falaise and Rohan in 1746, with much Heartlander property looted. Subsequently, attempts were made to change the region's predominantly Vanicist religion. Troops under Roulf de Bayeux began spreading the Nazarene faith throughout the settlements in the eastern part of the country. The conversion of the population occurred faster than expected, and within a decade, much of the region became Nazarene-majority, with only a few villages remaining predominantly Asafolk.
