Khalid Mohamed is an Alexandrian former-footballer of Babkhan descent who last played for Vecchiacittà Calcio in Tellia. A versatile winger also capable of playing as a striker, Mohamed is widely considered one of Alexandria's most talented players and is among the nation's most successful in terms of winner's medals.
Club career
Mohamed's professional career began in 2006 when he signed for Northriding Hotspurs in Riponia, ahead of the first Riponian Premiership season. After two years with the team, Riponia was declared dead and the league was disbanded, leaving Mohamed without a club.
Mohamed returned home to Alexandria as a free agent in the summer of 2008, and joined the Baudrix Bears in the Alexandrian Ligue 1. Mohamed spent four seasons with Baudrix, helping them qualify for the first CTFA Champions' League in 2012 and garnering plaudits for his ability. In the summer of 2012 at the age of 30, Mohamed secured a Cr 14.7 million move to Vecchiacittà Calcio in Tellia; a deal which made him one of Serie A's most expensive players.
After taking his favoured 15 jersey, Mohamed was influential for I Bianconeri during their most successful period, and became part of a star-studded team that secured an unprecedented double in his first season, as he helped the club to win the 2013 title and the first ever WMFA Champions' League. Vecchiacittà's dominance continued the following year, with Mohamed a regular starter for their second successive league triumph, though a semi-final defeat to Romero Sport halted his chance at winning back-to-back continental titles. Mohamed remained with Vecchiacittà for four more seasons after 2014, but financial troubles meant the team's successes came to an end and Mohamed's advancing age left him starting fewer matches during this time. At the age of 36, Mohamed announced his retirement at the completion of the 2018 season which saw a top-three finish for him for the first time in three years.
International career
After not being considered for the national team for the 2006 FMF World Cup, Mohamed was called-up to represent Alexandria for the first time in 2007. Mohamed immediately established himself as a reliable option for Alexandria as they qualified with ease for the 2007 FMF World Cup, where he scored the opening goal in a 5–0 defeat of New-Empire in the group stage before the team were eliminated in the quarter-finals. Alexandria qualified for the 2008 FMF World Cup unbeaten, as Mohamed became a regular starter for the side, scoring two goals in the finals in group-stage victories as the team advanced to the semi-finals before ultimately finishing fourth.
The following year saw Alexandria host the 2009 FMF World Cup, with Mohamed experiencing somewhat of a purple patch. After scoring in the unsuccessful CiboTap 2009 final, Mohamed forged a formidable combination with Florent Lassana-Traoré and Sébastien Focán at the World Cup, and scored four goals—including a semi-final brace against holders Craitland—as the team won its first ever international title. Bypassing qualifying as holders, Alexandria won the CiboTap Championships for the first time the following year, as Mohamed scored the team's third in a 4–1 final win. However, despite their prior successes, Mohamed and Alexandria stumbled at the group stage in the 2010 FMF World Cup.
After going through qualifying unbeaten in 2011, Mohamed once again helped the team to the CTFA's main prize by scoring the second in a 3–2 win in the CiboTap 2011 final. In the World Cup later in the year, Mohamed's regular starting place came under threat from Álexis Carrasco and the winger failed to find the net as Alexandria were eliminated in the quarter-finals on penalties; though Mohamed converted his shoot-out spot kick. Mohamed was involved in another unbeaten qualifying campaign in 2012, and scored in a CiboTap 2012 semi-final win as the team lost the final on penalties. In the 2012 FMF World Cup finals, Mohamed added another tournament strike—ultimately his last—with a penalty against Mahoz HaSephardim in the group stage to help the team on the way to a second final; losing once more on penalties to place second.
Now utilised more as an impact player for Alexandria, Mohamed was involved in the unbeaten 2013 qualifiers and the successful 2013 CiboTap Championships campaign, where he earned a fourth international winner's medal. He was also picked again for the 2013 FMF World Cup, but made minimal appearances and was unable to find the net despite Alexandria performing well on their way to another semi-final showing as they placed third. With his chances becoming more limited internationally, Mohamed announced his international retirement in 2014 at the age of 32.
After Alexandria's death in 2017, Mohamed would have been eligible to represent Caputia prior to his full retirement in 2018, but maintained his decision from 2014.
