Chicken King is a Florian fast food restaurant company. In Hurmu, its corporate division is incorporated as Allmenna samlageð Kuklingkonunger i Hurmu ("Public joint-stock company Chicken King i Hurmu") due to laws establishing in what language the legal name of a company may be. The company is, theoretically, a publicly traded company on the Kaupang Stock Market, though a majority of the division is owned by the Florian holding company (though with de facto frozen assets)

Sanctions against Floria

On 20.X.1706, Hurmu's Senate denounced Floria's invasion of Port Bolaine as an "illegal war of aggression" and instituted sanctions

  • Ban of Florian businesses operating in Hurmu
  • End of visa-free travel for Florian citizens in Hurmu
  • Freezing of all Florian assets in Hurmu
  • Ban of Florian trains on Hurmu tracks
  • Ban of Florian ships in Hurmu waters
  • Ban of Florian use of Hurmu airspace

Hours later, the Xäiville Convention, by which Hurmu is bound, implemented sanctions which included

  • an import ban on Florian products,
  • a release of copyright on Florian products already in the XC is lifted (making piracy legal),
  • and no broadcasting of Florian football games,
  • and no audience for Florian games taking place in XC countries.

The effect of the first sanctions from Hurmu was that the the larger stake of ownership in the company (by the Florian holding company) was nationalized (with eminent domain-equivalent payment held in a bank account for as long as sanctions would be held). A year later, Hurmu softened its sanctions to be in line with XC standards. All profits of the company stay at a bank account in Hurmu, as payment to Floria might be construed as importation.

With there being no protection for Florian copyrights in Hurmu, including patents, the recipe for the famous chicken dishes were left out free for everyone. Restaurants across Hurmu started cooking these dishes in addition to their standard ones, including variations of them. There are unofficial, but fully identical, restaurants in the Chicken King chain (unaffiliated with the Florian mother company or with the samlag here in Hurmu), serving the exact same food, but with the local owners pocketing all profit.

Moreover, no ingredients could be imported from Floria or through Floria.

However, on 12.X.1721, the Senate of the Lakes enacted an end to all sanctions against Floria. After that, the company's profits were once again allowed to return to the shareholders in Floria.
