The 2009 FMF World Cup was the fourth tournament of the FMF World Cup, and was held in Alexandria between 1 October and 24 October 2009. The sixteen competing national teams all qualified successfully to be involved. The tournament's matches were played in eight stadiums in eight different cities around Alexandria.
The tournament was won by Alexandria, the first time the tournament had been won by its host nation, who beat Nova England in the final in Ponce.
Hosts
Alexandria was chosen as the hosts of the tournament after missing-out on hosting the 2008 tournament. Craitman H. Pellegrino and Jang Ji-Hyo, FMF President and Vice-President, agreed that the Alexandrian bid was also notably strong and that it was suitable for hosting the following tournament. It was announced that the host's national teams would receive automatic berths in the tournament, as well as the winners of the previous tournament.
