The Stonetree Engineering Group, centred around production facilities located in the Governorate of Upper Lywall, is an automotive design and manufacturing company formed from the appropriated assets of Ketshire Automotive Technologies in the Unified Governorates of Benacia ahead of that company's merger with Derry Motors in 1686 AN. Established as a state unitary enterprise, the Stonetree Engineering Group is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Military-Industrial Relations Bureau of Benacia Command.
The company was sustained by wartime production orders during the Second Elwynnese Civil War (1692-1696) for vast numbers of support vehicles, such as the Snatch Land Rover.
During the postwar reconstruction period the company was obliged by the Benacian Union to establish a locomotive manufacturing division in order to fulfill an order for the construction of four thousand OMW Große Dampfzugmaschine cargo traction engines, produced under licence in response to the mounting fuel crisis that began with the Sanaman Civil War (1698-1703).
The company remains a significant supplier of the Imperial Constancian Armed Forces, and recently, of the government and civilians of Zeed.
In 1708 AN Stonetree Engineering Group was chosen by the Benacian Union to serve as constructor for the Typhon Group, a motorsports propaganda project conceived by the High Presidium of the Benacian Union in response to the formation of the Formula Micras World Championship. Whilst the theoretical design work would be undertaken at Chryse, the manufacturing and assembly of the first prototype racers would be undertaken at the SEG plant in Stonetree. For this reason scouts were sent out into the rural districts surrounding Stonetree in order to identify a suitable venue for a test circuit.
