Operation Mandate Guardian (Alexandrian: Opération Gardien du Mandat; Martino: Operación Guardián del Mandato) was a military deployment conducted by the Federal Forces of Nouvelle Alexandrie in 1752 AN to establish a permanent marine garrison at the Federal Mission to Tiegang in the International Mandate for the Settlements in Apollonia.
The deployment represented a significant expansion of New Alexandrian presence in Eastern Apollonia. Characterized by observers as "shock and awe diplomacy," the operation combined a substantial show of military force with cultural diplomacy, including the distribution of Mousseux de Chambéry sparkling wine from Valencia to local officials and residents.
Background
Security situation in the International Mandate
Status of the Federal Mission
The Federal Mission to Tiegang from Nouvelle Alexandrie had maintained a presence in the International Mandate since 1687 AN, holding a single seat on the Mandate Council. The mission operated from a modest compound in the city center, a situation that contrasted with the more substantial military presence maintained by other powers, including the Honourable Company's ESB-Holïurs-Afzælt, the Imperial Federation's Mechazawa Naval Base, and the Jingdaoese garrison.
Appointment of Ambassador de Almagro
On 15.II.1752 AN, Maximilian de Almagro resigned as Director of the Federal Harmonisation and Coordination Service to accept appointment as New Alexandrian Ambassador to the International Mandate. His selection signaled the Federation's intention to elevate its presence in the city-state.
Planning and preparation
Council of State authorization
On 8.IV.1752 AN, the Council of State authorized Operation Mandate Guardian following a joint presentation by the Department of State and the Department of Defense.
Force composition
The deployment involved a regimental combined arms task force, a Régiment de Parachutistes d'Infanterie de Marine, drawn primarily from the Apollonian Expeditionary Force of the Marine Corps. The force was sized to establish a permanent garrison capable of compound defense, personnel protection, and rapid response operations.
At the heart of the deployment would be a Demi-Regiment of six hundred marine infantry, supported an area defence squadron and various combat support elements, equalling a total force of approximately 1,200 men.
The deployment

Arrival
Battle Group Lyrica, centred around HMS Proclamacion, HMS San Pablo, and HMS Ignatius, departed the New Alexandrian ports of Lausanne, Buenaventura, and La Columna in South Lyrica on 3.VII.1752 AN and arrived at Tiegang on 25.IX.1752 AN after conducting preparatory exercises in the Dyre Straits.
Securing the compound
The expanded compound was established adjacent to the existing Federal Mission in the downtown area, incorporating abandoned and purchased properties in a manner similar to the development of Residency Isle by the ESB Group.
Whilst the deployment to the compound was ongoing, the Dominator-class missile cruiser HMS Illapa entered the Tiegang Roads and took up station opposite the mouth of Augustus Bay
Diplomatic reception
The reception
The arrival was accompanied by cultural diplomacy. Cases of Mousseux de Chambéry, a sparkling wine from the Valencian capital of Chambéry, were distributed to local officials, Mandate Council representatives, and assembled crowds. Ambassador de Almagro hosted a reception at the newly expanded compound on the evening of 26.IX.1752 AN, attended by representatives of all ethnic groups represented on the Mandate Council.
An overflight of the city by three Cyclone deep strike fighters from the 10th Air Fleet, operating from the Islas de la Libertad, was timed to coincide with the culmination of the reception.
Mandate Council response
Regional reactions
The Imperial Constancian Ambassador to the International Mandate welcomed this development, dryly noting off-record at the reception that the abandonment of real governance meant that economic and commercial matters were laissez-faire with minimal regulation, personal security was something that required real force. The ESB resident and de facto power in the Mandate likewise applauded the presence of the supplemented force and messaging brought about by the Nouvelle Alexandrie delegation.
The Admiral Deimos Jasonides, an Ignatius-class amphibious transport dock vessel belonging to the ESB Group and home-ported at Tiegang, dressed ship and manned the rails as a mark of amity and respect.
Establishment of the garrison
The permanent garrison, comprising approximately 1,000 marines and support personnel, assumed responsibility for compound security, protection of New Alexandrian nationals in the Mandate, and coordination with other foreign garrisons operating in the city-state. The garrison was declared fully operational on 10.XI.1752 AN.
