Operation Tianhu
Operation Tianhu is an operation of the Hurmu Peace Corps in the Green territory west of Lontinien and Rekozemlje in order to bring peace and order over the Hurmu border to the Green and the adjacent Green territories. Begun on 4.VI.1700 AN, the operation was named Tianhu after Hurmu's poetical name in Jingdaoese (天湖 tiānhú, "heavenly lake(s)").
The Hurmu Peace Corps cooperated with the Hurmu Constabulary, Special Auxiliary Constabularies of the 3rd and 5th divisions, in the operation.
Objectives
- Monitor the border between the Apollonian Empire and the Green, including but not limited to the movement of people across the border and apprehending such persons that are suspected of crimes against humanity, crimes against war, and crimes against peace during the Post-Chidao Troubles leading up to the formation of the Great Apollonian Empire. Hurmu applies the principle of universal jurisdiction for such crimes, in line with international law.
- Making alliances with communities dwelling in the Green with regard to culture, education, security, and health care.
- From 1702 the expeditions sent out onto the steppe were additionally tasked with discovering the whereabouts and ultimate fate of personnel previously sent out into the wilderness in 1700 and 1701 respectively.
Expeditions
In order to fulfill the stated objectives of the operation, a series of annual expeditions were sent out onto the steppe to establish contact with the local tribes and to set up forward operating base.

A request for volunteers was published in the three campuses of the Peace Academy during the first month of 1702 AN. Concurrently members of the Order of the Holy Lakes, male and aged between the ages of eighteen and thirty, belonging to lineages associated with the Humanist and Traditionalist parties were approached by members of the Senatorial Committee for the Hurmu Peace Corps and sounded out to gauge their wherewithal and interest in participating in the expedition. For the scions of the "right" families, the shared experiences of a childhood spent in the Education & Indoctrination Service of Raspur/Sarayzenana, the School of the High Inquisitor of Tiegang, the N&H Leadership School, and the shared privations of the Humanist Vanguard provided the bonds of mutual trust which allowed their interviewers to sound them out. Nine suitable candidates were eventually selected, two of whom were already officers serving with the Hurmu Peace Corps. The remaining seven were nominally inducted into the Peace Academy as aspirants and thereby brought onto the payroll and discipline of the Peace Corps for the purposes of the expedition.
