The Governorate of Absentien is an administrative subdivision of the realm of Elluenuueq subordinated to the circuit of the General Government.
Born from the ruins of old Amokolia after the cataclysm of the Second Elwynnese Civil War, Absentien occupied the majority of the mainland territories of Amokolia, specifically Oleslääd and Vattnaland, less those bailiwicks lost to the Central Governorate, Mishalacia, and subsequently Nordland.
History
After years of persecution as a prohibited language, the last recidivist speakers of Amokolian were expelled from the cities in 1714 AN, ahead of the speaking of that language within urban districts becoming a capital crime in the following year.
In consequence of being driven into the forests and tundra, the Amokolian race has been encouraged to regress into a tribal state by the authorities, to subsist on the meagre produce of the land, and to war against each other for the scant favour, in the form of consignments of preserved food, survival gear, and surplus rifles, offered by the authorities in return for service.
In 1715 AN the emptied cities began to receive new settlers, a mix of BUDF personnel, ESB employees, and their families and households, as well as a large contingent of former Elwynnese refugees, repatriated from Ransenar as part of Operation Harvest Moon. These former dissidents, benefiting from the conditions of a general amnesty, were, insofar as was possible, allocated properties and small businesses as best matched their skill-sets and previous circumstances. The priority for repopulation were the coastal bailiwicks and those inland settlements connected to the old Imperial rail network.
List of bailiwicks
Below is a list of bailiwicks with their population, with their traditional county (if applicable) and autonomous country. For more demographics, see the 1697 Elwynnese census.
