Prince Gerard, Marquis of Yucay[1], né Gerard Peter Skuryov-Spooner (born 1727 AN), is a Highbloomian-Nouvelle Alexandrien soldier and the son-in-law of King Sinchi Roca II and Empress Clara. A lieutenant colonel in the 1st Volunteer Cavalry Division ''Northbloom'' of the Highbloom Defence Force, he met his future wife while serving as a Raspur Pact liaison officer in Nouvelle Alexandrie. Since 1759 AN, he has also served as Special Counselor to the King, a personal advisory post in the royal household.
Personal life
A member of the Spooner family, Gerard is the only son of James Spooner, Mondosphere ambassador to Nouvelle Alexandrie and his wife, Petra Skuryova-Spooner, Baroness Skuryova of Highbloom, Lord Lieutenant of Southbloom and Co-chair of the Princely Council of Highbloom. He has a twin sister, Alice, the Mondosphere consul in New Hempton, Hurmu. His paternal uncle is Mayor of Ermingander Village Gerard Spooner, Baron Spooner of Cedartree, and his aunt is Hurmu Minister of Policy and Security Greta Mondosdottra.
On 19.IX.1753 AN, it was announced that Gerard had become engaged to Urpi, second daughter of Empress Clara of Natopia and King Sinchi Roca II of Nouvelle Alexandrie.[2] The couple were married on 15.IV.1754 AN.
Special Counselor to the King
In 1759 AN, King Sinchi Roca II appointed Gerard as Special Counselor to the King, a personal advisory appointment in the royal household.[3] In it he advises the Sovereign on Raspur Pact and allied-military affairs, the liaison work that first brought him to Nouvelle Alexandrie, and draws on his career in the Highbloom Defence Force. The post is a personal counsel to the King: it is distinct from the statutory Special Counselors of the Federal Defense Committee named under the Defense of the Federation Act, 1694, and from the Counsellors of State who deputize for the Sovereign in a temporary absence. It sits outside the Council of State and the military chain of command, and carries no executive authority.
