Elected Qukalsim

Malliki Orea
Sanamati Democratic Party

The 1715 Sanaman general elections were held on 12.X and were the third elections following the 1707 change of political system. The sitting Qukalsim Malliki Orea was seeking a third term, with Kito Paliso of the Agrarian League again his main competitor. The Agrarian League and the Sanaman People's Party now formed the National Alliance, with a common electoral program and non-competition agreement. The United Nationalist Alliance collapsed completely following the arrest and conviction of several leading figures on charges of corruption and abuse of office. The most high profile of these was the former leader of the country Keysa Nur Pinito Caprici. Elections were also held to the assemblies of the people's republics, as well as local and regional assemblies. This was the first election to not feature representatives from Sipula after the Cibolan territory had been disestablished.

Participating parties

The only major change in parties compared to the election in 1711 was the formal cooperation agreement between the Agrarian League and the Sanaman People's Party. The Sanaman People's Party, Communities Movement and Coalition 1660 changed party leaders before the election, while the United Nationalist Alliance retained Nur Pinito Caprici as leader despite the corruption conviction.

Results

The Sanamati Democratic Party lost 13 seats in the election, but managed to retain control of the House of People's Delegates. The Agrarian League and the Sanaman People's Party on the other hand made gains in this election too, together claiming 12 additional seats. The Communities Movement managed to reclaim one seat, but the quirks of first-past-the-post caused the Northern League to claim seven seats with fewer votes. The Agrarian League and Sanaman People's Party further benefited from their non-compete agreement. The large increase in votes for "other" parties was due to an influx of voters to the Communist Party, Bright Future and Citizens United. The SDP retained their majority in the House of Councillors, continuing a previous arrangement with the Communities Movement. Following the victory of the SDP in the House of People's Delegates, Malliki Orea retained his commission as Qukalsim.
