Prosgeiosi Basileus

Prosgeiosi Basileus refers to the crown lands, which is the territorial domain and estates vested in whoever is the Basileus or Basilinna of the Imperial State of Constancia, and provides them with an independent income.

This portfolio is overseen by the Ministry for Crown Lands, a department of the Government of the Imperial State of Constancia. Over the years it has expanded to include the island city of Astérapolis, the northern coast of Zsharra and the southern portion of Razjania, as well as Shahrzadpolis. By virtue of exercising control over the shipping lanes leading into the Gulf of Aqaba, the ability to levy tolls upon maritime traffic has also been a significant boon for the imperial revenues.

Garrison

The Crown Lands are garrisoned by the permanent regimental cadres (Syntagama) of the combat divisions of the Konstantinanoú Stratoú or Imperial Constancian Army of the Imperial Constancian Armed Forces. These regimental cadres, each of 1,200 men, once activated, form the nucleus of divisions with 14,400 men per division.

When fully activated to their wartime complement, the divisions provide the assets from which to constitute the 501st Army of Trans-Euran Command, also known as the Constancian Expeditionary Force (CEF), at Arâk. The CEF is organised into two Combined Arms Corps; the Sóma Syndyasménon Óplon "Γ" (Combined Arms Corps "Gamma"), at Astérpolis, and the Sóma Syndyasménon Óplon "Δ" (Combined Arms Corps "Delta"), at Ithonion. The CEF is further supported and enabled by elements of the Constancian Foreign Legion, at Arâk, naval assets from the Black Banner Fleet, and aviation capabilities provided by the Expeditionary Air Group.

A full forty percent of all ICAF military equipment and materiel is reserved to support the operations of the 501st Army, and thus are available for the defence of the Crown Lands in extremis.

Doctrinally, the Crown Lands represent a bastion of defence controlling access to the Gulf of Aqaba, a redoubt for the regime in the event of domestic revolt or foreign invasion, and the zone of security from whence expeditionary forces can be despatched to intervene elsewhere in the continent of Eura and the wider world beyond.

Astérapolis meanwhile is garrisoned in peacetime by the elite regiments of the Imperial Guard. The Aftokratorikó Genikó Epiteleío (Imperial General Staff) is formed from the Aftokratorikí Frourá (Imperial Guard), itself consisting of the military households of the Basileus and the Autokrator, as well as the Athánatoi (Immortals), a ten-thousand strong elite guards division. The Imperial General Staff & Imperial Guard together form the immediate entourage and the bodyguard of the dual sovereigns of the Imperial State of Constancia. The Imperial Guard also forms the garrison of Petropolis on the mainland.
