GOVERNMENT TO DELAY ELECTIONS TO LATE 1693
Crunch of “continued organizational and bureaucratic disarray” cited as the main culprit
Secretary of Interior Martina Lopez resigns
CÁRDENAS, FCD -- Citing “continued organizational and bureaucratic disarray”, Premier Jean Michel Lavaud announced that the upcoming general elections in 1692 are to be postponed to late next year.
In a raucous press conference, Lavaud also made clear that the delays were unacceptable, reiterating a “resolute commitment to democracy and to the constitutional order of the Federation.”
The previous delays tarred the record of Premier Alejandro Campos and led to his hasty exit in 1690 AN, resulting in Lavaud becoming President of the Government.
The elections are to be delayed due to difficulties in organizing and providing for elections in some of the most rural or remote areas of the Federation, especially in North Lyrica. Added to this, several heavily-funded programs to aggressively register voters and issue identification have failed to reach new voters in North Lyrica, South Lyrica, and in the Islas de la Libertad following the rapid expansion of the country.
The Secretary of Interior, Martina Lopez, announced her resignation following the statement from Premier Lavaud announcing the election delays.

CARRANZA PALACE ANNOUNCES ALEXANDRIAN EMPEROR VISIT
Grand Imperial Tour of the country will start in Behaurnais and end in Judah
CÁRDENAS, FCD -- Carranza Palace has announced today that a grand tour of Nouvelle Alexandrie is being organized by the Titular Emperor of Alexandria, Francis Joseph IV, and his wife, the Titular Queen of Caputia and Hamland.
The visit has been called "the event of the year" for 1693. It will see the couple start their tour in the city of Fontainebleau, Alduria, where they will be welcomed by the King and the Queen.
The tour will see the Titular Emperor of Alexandria visit communities, churches, theaters, military bases, and other places throughout the country, often with the King and Queen. The tour will end in the city of Judah, where the Titular Emperor will sail back to his home in Natopia on the HIMS Persistent, along with adequate naval backup from Natopia and Nouvelle Alexandrie.
The visit is expected to be at its highest peaks when the Emperor lands in Ciudad Santa, Punta Santiago, Cardenas, Roanne, and Judah. It is expected that the large Caputian and Alexandrian communities of these cities will come out in droves to greet the visiting titular monarchs.
This tour aims to publicly convey the Titular Emperor's blessing and approval on the change of name for Alduria-Wechua to Nouvelle Alexandrie, claiming the mantle of a rich Alexandrian heritage that dates back to 1468 AN (May 2002), when the first Alexandrian state was founded.
