The Mango-Strengthening Movement (henceforth called MaStMov) was a project called into life during Kaiser Brrapa VII's reign in 1633 AN with the goal of strengthening the Imperial Republic of Shireroth through stimulating cooperation between the Imperial States and expanding the cultural influence of the Throne throughout our divided lands, without destroying or oppressing the cultures which inhabited those same lands. The First Movement was severely hampered due to Kaiser Brrapa VII lineage: the House of Win'Eth was widely seen as a dynastic line with strong ties to the former Duchy of Kildare, which the Empire had lost 16 years earlier. Failed attempts (if attempts were even made) to use his influence to re-attach those lost territories back to the Imperial Republic were seen as meager excuses. The Movement would die a silent death after the imprisonment of his daughter Margana Win'Eth, who had foolishly thought to suppress the States with military power.

In 1716 AN, the Second Mango-Strengthening Movement was revived by nobles from the different corners of the Imperial Republic. It transformed itself into a political movement, vowing to compete in the 1717 Shirerithian general elections for the Folksraad and Adelsraad. The party became the largest party within both the Folksraad and Adelsraad.

At the start of 1723 AN, the party saw the Verionists split of to establish their own party. A 1723 Party Congress was held in anticipation of the 1723 Shirerithian general elections.

Support for the Second Movement

Support of the Second Mango-Strengthening Movement is especially strong among the Jingdaoese elites and higher nobility and the peasantry in both Greater Kildare and Batavia. Appalled by Old feudalism and its tendency to lead to the fragmentation of central authorities, it found an especially strong support among the Jingdaoese elites and higher nobility.

Neofeudalism leaned closer to what the Jingdaoese (and the Kildari) were used to under the guidance of the Celestial Light and enjoyed more confidence from those who feared a repeat of the Fractured Shireroth Era and Age of the Imperial States. Since the Post-Chidao Era, several towns in Greater Kildare had already reverted to fortifying their own town walls and defences. The wealthier folk sought refuge in their fortified homesteads, and the ensuing period of chaos, the Decade of Inharmonious Regrets, was anything but remembered positively. Because of this, the proponents of the Movement are staunch supporters of the Imperial House and support the Mango Court's dominance over domestic affairs.

The revival of Tianchaodao (with an infusion of Cedrist dogmas and gods) and its further spread in Benacia is seen by many supporters as a weapon of the Kaiseress to strengthen control over the Imperial Republic.

Principles of the Second Mango-Strengthening Movement (1723 election)

Principles of the Second Mango-Strengthening Movement (1717 election)

  • Constitutional affairs
    • The Kaiseress is and remains the highest authority within the Imperial Republic. Her Line holds the Heavenly Mandate, support of the Temples and therefore the authority over the populace and serfs.
    • Regular elections of the Landsraad are restored with limited powers: both the Folksraad and Adelraad serve the purpose to advise the Kaiseress of any important affairs and pressing matters.
    • Strengthening of the divide of the lower classes, like slaves, and their masters. Limiting the possibility to free them or their family from slavery, as this would allow unwelcome elements into society. Ideals of equality, as often is pushed for in the Batavian provinces, must not be endorsed. To the contrary!
  • Domestic affairs
    • Creation of a national identity: the Imperial Republic is an empire with many ethnicities and cultures. This is something to be celebrated, but it must always remain clear that Shirekeep is the center of both the nation's political and cultural developments.
    • Expansion of the national police force, the Imperial Marshals, and deployment to all subdivisions within the Imperial Republic to safeguard the Empire against enemies from within.
    • Integration of the Young Wandering Society into the fabrics of the Imperial Republic: spread their values across the nation to strengten ties between its people. Youth camps will allow even the poorest freeman to travel to other corners of the Realm, learn the local customs and teach them to work together with their fellow Shirerithian.
    • Reform of the Cedrist Sacred College to include and strengthen the role of the Wanderers of the Pure Path at the expense of the Cult of Mors.
    • School reforms should include a national canon which every Shirerithian must follow. A focus on patriotism, combined with a decent education of the working class to fulfill the requirements of their job (but not give them any silly ideas).
  • Limit the influence of foreign nations in our politics and economics. Shireroth must retake its spot as super power and shouldn't be heavily influenced by other foreign powers (allies or not): industries must be revitalized, and wherever possible we can must become self-sufficient.
  • Foreign affairs
    • Shireroth should re-assert its independence from its neighbours. Despite being allies, the Benacian Union has carved up a large empire at Shireroth's expense. Their integration of Ransenar strengthens their positions if relations sore and they ever want to blockade river access between our capital and the Shire Sea.
    • Shireroth must develop its ties with non-Raspurid nations, as well as its Raspur Pact allies. Therefore joining organisations as the Micras Trade Organisation must be promoted.
  • Military
    • Expansion of our military is a necessity. The integration of both the obsolete and neglected armies, as well as their modernization must become one of our main priorities. The integration of former warlords and conflicting military doctrines must be handled with care, under the guidance of Shirerithian officers.
    • With the Imperial Republic once more owning large oversea regions, it will also need a capable naval fleet to protect shipping lanes.
    • With the influx of manpower, a large workforce and taxes, we are once more capable of expanding our military industrial complex. Shireroth must retake the means of productions: our guns, tanks and airships must once more wear the label 'Made in Shireroth'.
