Finchidia (Akhidian: Finchiďą), officially the Kingdom of Finchidia (Akhidian: Finchiďą Físaqła), is a monarchy in western Cibola and a member of the Akhidian Confederation. One of the three successor states to the Kingdom of Akhidia, from 1707 to 1712 AN it was known as the Kingdom of West Akhidia. Its capital and largest city is Finch.
History
The Kingdom of West Akhidia was formally established by the Ermingander Village Accords as an autonomous realm for Neil I, one of the three claimants to the Akhidian throne. West Akhidia, together with the other two successor states of South and East Akhidia, was originally included within the Akhidian Confederation, a loose supranational union intended to maintain the spirit of Akhidian unity; however, the subsequent five years saw the confederation become little more than a legal fiction as the three states followed divergent paths. East Akhidia’s political turmoil intensified as the country quickly fragmented between the partisans of King Matthew I and the princesses Caryl and Lorena, while South Akhidia’s links to the Mondosphere solidified, leading to it formally joining in 1708 AN. Meanwhile, under Neil’s leadership, West Akhidia attempted to chart an independent course, while remaining on good terms with Mondo; central to this approach was the cultivation of a distinct local identity, separate from the rest of Akhidia.
On 1.I.1712 AN, Neil formally renounced any claim to the Akhidian throne, while simultaneously proclaiming himself king of the new kingdom of Finchidia. The government subsequently announced its intention to withdraw from the largely defunct Akhidian Confederation and open negotiations with Mondo with a view to becoming an associate member of the Mondosphere.
Government and politics
Finchidia is a semi-constitutional monarchy. The reigning monarch, Neil I, was a former King of Akhidia alongside Edward I and Matthew I, but renounced the Akhidian throne in 1712 AN, thereby establishing a separate Finchidian kingship. King Neil is married to Befra, a native of Finch, and has a son, Crown Prince Ivar (born 1706 AN).
The royal government is led by a prime minister appointed by the monarch. As of 1712 AN, the prime minister is Chingiz Khunesh, formerly mayor of Finch.
The kingdom’s legislative body, the Finchidar, is an elected unicameral assembly descended from the Akhidian Ahidar.
Administrative divisions
Finchidia is organised into four provinces, which are named after their principle city. Each province is administered by a governor appointed by the monarch.

Demographics
Finchidia has a population estimated at 810,000.
Ethnic groups
There are four principle ethnic groups in Finchidia. The bulk of the population, some 64% of the total, belong to the Fichiese ethnicity. Fentoians and Batavians account for 17 and 10% respectively. The Batii people, who were the dominant ethnic group in Akhidia, comprise a mere 4% of the population, but are disproportionately represented among the wealthy classes, although that has begun to change in recent years.
