The Flanders national football team was the football team which represented the micronation of Flanders. It was a member of the AEFA.

The team existed twice in the FMF's history; firstly between 2009 and late 2011, and secondly between 2012 and mid-2017.

History

The team was founded in 2009 after Flanders' Micrasian claim was successful. The team competed in the World Cup qualifiers the following year, finishing bottom of their five-team group with only one point.

In 2011's qualifying, the team were more successful, finishing third in their four-team group with eight points. Flanders left Micras later in the year but returned in 2012. Soon afterwards, the team competed in the inaugural Zeeburg Tournaments, where they finished last in the eight-team tournament on goal difference with three points.

In their first qualifying campaign since returning to Micras, Flanders finished bottom of their five-team group with five points to their name.

Flanders' fortunes improved in the 2014 qualifiers as they finished third in their six-team group with twenty points, missing-out on a place in the 2014 Copa Apollonia on goal difference to Toketi in the process. Later in the year, the team competed in the first Apollonian Cup, where they were undefeated in their three matches as they won the tournament.

In 2015's qualifiers, Flanders finished second, two points behind Gerenia, in their five-team group with 19 points and advanced to the interconfederational play-off against Vyktory, which they won by virtue of the away goals rule after a 3–3 aggregate draw to reach the World Cup for the first time. The team were less successful in the finals, however, as they lost all four of their matches against strong opposition to finish bottom of their group.

The 2016 Copa Apollonia qualification rounds saw the team lose only once to top their five-team group with 15 points to reach the finals. The team's success continued into the finals, where they advanced from their group with six points before beating Gotzborg 3–0 in the semi-finals, but lost to favourites Senya 3–1 in the final to finish as runners-up.

The team's fortunes lessened the following year, as they finished bottom of their four-team World Cup qualifying group with six points. Flanders left Micras once again shortly afterwards.
