Born to the Hossani family of diaspora-[[Babkha]]n merchants, Abdul was the second son in a family of seven children (three boys, four daughters) born to Majid and Farah Hossein. Like many who had suffered from, or lost loved ones to, the depredations of the Bassarids Abdul was drawn towards the militaristic and Pro-[[Raspur Pact]] policies of the [[Nationalist and Humanist Party]].  The N&H, owing to their powerbase in [[Alalehzamin]] enjoyed historically warm relations with the Babkhan diaspora community, and this was as true in Natopia as anywhere else.
Abdul paid for the commission and crewing of an armed trawler to serve as a privateer during the [[Verionian–Raspur War]] (1680-1683), placing a mortgage on his family compound and business in order to do so.
