Senatorial Inquisition
The Senatorial Inquisition is an agency of the Senate of the Lakes (but outside it), charged with investigating and prosecuting criminal activities against the Order of the Holy Lakes, by members of the Order of the Holy Lakes, or others who have sworn fealty to the Order.
It was established on 18.III.1720 by the Chancellor Li Naomiai to aid in investigating whether members of the Order of the Holy Lakes could be found criminally culpable for treason or other crimes against the Order of the Holy Lakes during the 1719–1720 Hurmu civil conflict as well as the events leading to, during and in the immediate aftermath of the Evacuation of Moorland.
Janek Tryggve, Knight of the Holy Lakes and Jurist of the MTO Court, and former Senator, was its first Chief Inquisitor until his death in 1735.
Findings in relation to the Moorland affair were presented to the Twelfth Senate during the first month of 1730 AN.
