The Republic of Maraguo, or Maraguo Vrystaat was an independent Micran nation, and a former part of the Kingdom of Batavia. The nation was located on the current island of Calbion. It's culture was influenced by Shireroth and Batavia, and shows Jasonian and Matbaan influences as well. The Republic of Maraguo was founded after the Calbion Independence War, which saw the destruction of several large Calbain cities. Maraguans seized the moment to proclaim their own nation.
Geography and History
Maraguo existed of Maraguo Island, Summerisle, and the eastern part of Nelaga, and is in part a result of the War of Jeremy's Nose. The island was the prize in the war and was claimed by Shireroth. Since the MCS refused to allow Shireroth any further Micran territory, the island was partitioned between it's main allies in the war, Batavia and Interland.
After that, Maraguo became a part of the Jasonian succesor state of Nelaga until it's collapse in early 2013. The island was then occupied by Jingdaoese settlers, who, together with existing Celtic tribes, established the state of Calbion. Declaring independence, Calbion was destroyed by Jingdaoese forces and thrown back hundreds of years in history. After a period of Chaos and Tribal warfare, the Maraguans claimed the island, under command of General Jack van Steyn, establishing the Republic of Maraguo.
