Dervish Çelebi (born 1663, aged 68) is sultan of Jaihabar since 1722 AN and was Grand Vizier of Çakaristan between 1711 AN and 1722 AN. He served as the mayor of his hometown Uttarkhet immediately after being taken to Çakaristan. After the fall of the Great Apollonian Empire, he became a member of the Majlis al-Nuwaab on behalf of United Green.

Personal life

Born and raised in Uttarkhet (then called Norwich), he lived in green. He became engaged to his childhood sweetheart, but she died when Krasnocorian troops swept through Uttarkhet. Torn by grief, he threw himself into a political career and has not had another relationship, until meeting Astīr bint Alsalam, youngest daughter of Mahmud bin Alsalam, in 1714, whom he subsequently married. As such, he became a member of the Order of the Holy Lakes.

Together they are blessed with four children:

  • Süleyman Çelebi (1719– )
  • Safiye Çelebi (1723– )
  • Mehmed Çelebi (1726– )
  • Selim Çelebi (1726– )

Career

He became mayor of Uttarkhet in 1688 AN and built up that city. In the run-up to the parliamentary elections of 1691, he became a member of United Green. Within that party, he became an important organiser of governance courses and campaigned for the constitutional enshrinement of fundamental rights. The latter led to contact and cooperation with Jayanti Sinha. She soon saw in Dervish a successor.

During the last term of the grand vizierate, Jayanti Sinha groomed him to take over. At the party congress in late 1709 AN, Dervish was nominated as a candidate for the upcoming grand vizier elections. Prior to the 1711 elections, he managed to secure the cooperation of the National People's Party. Because of his outspoken devotion in Craitism, he received support from Craitist parties. He convincingly won the elections and succeeded Jayanti Sinha as grand vizier.
