Mondo Rechter-Katzenfreund is a child of Gray Rechter and Theodor Katzenfreund and a twin sibling of Amour Rechter-Katzenfreund. She was born in Huyenkula, Hurmu but grew up in Taktwinkel in the Confoederatio Aemilia, which later became the Lanzerwald Republic. Her godparent is Mondo Etzeterra. Mondo Rechter-Katzenfreund lost her mother Gray Rechter when she was only two years old and was raised by Theodor Katzenfreund as a single father. She was a student at the University of Walstadt, focusing on food security before joining the government of Volksratvorsitzende Leah Nasir in 1752 as Minister for Agriculture. During the 1753 MTO secretary-general election, she was nominated by the Lanzerwald delegation to become the new MTO secretary-general. The bid was unsuccessful.
As Minister for Agriculture Mondo Rechter-Katzenfreund set a focus on intensification of agriculture, especially in the fertile lands in the north of the republic. Traditional agriculture was reasonably small scale with ox drawn ploughs still often used, but Mondo Rechter-Katzenfreund ordered farmers to consolidate lands so that larger patches of land could be worked with machines such as tractors. Learning from the mistakes of other countries, with crop rotation and hedges between fields she sought to limit soil degradation.
