The Legion of Unity, more commonly known as the Samhold Fyrd, is a local territorial reserve force active on Samhold Island. The Fyrd originated as a pro-Senate paramilitary organisation, established on 20.III.1719 AN with the connivance of the EMMP-dominated district administration, in response to the controversial disestablishment of the Hurmu Constabulary by the Raudsepp government.
During the consequent 1719-20 Hurmu Civil Conflict, the Samhold Fyrd provided personnel to form the Volunteer Grenadier Regiment Samhold (the present day 185th Guards Volunteer Grenadier Regiment Samhold of the Hurmudan Guards Corps) within the Nordstorm Brigade, which saw service in Karnamark against anti-Senatorial forces. Following the Senate's victory in the conflict, the Fyrd was retained as a local territorial force and manpower reserve for the Nordstorm Brigade.
