Mataba Defence Forces Football Club or MDFFC is a Matabese developmental football club in Mataba. The team is in direct control under the Matabese football federation. MDFFC are one of the few football clubs in the world which place an age restriction on team members while playing in a top-flight professional league. They play in the Liga Mataba.

History

The Defenders were founded by the Matabese Athletic Association to give local soldiers a way to express their pastime and intrests into Matabese football. The team would compete in the Matabese Lower Divisions where they would rarely finish top of the league more frequently at the bottom due to lack of funding and facilities.

The club was soon disbanded by the Matabese Athletic Association as they couldn't find a proper investor for the club and the government back then was too focused on their own football club than caring for the region's soldiers. All players were released and the club wasn't seen again for a very long time as the Matabese Athletic Association decided to hide such embarrassment from the public eye.

MDFFC would finally return to the football scene this time as a full professional team as this time it would serve as a club for military servicemen aged 19-21 to focus on their professional career and also serving Mataba as part of the National Service Law. The club was only limited to players who played professional football for 1 season or was a youth acaddemy product of a top division side in Eura.

Goal

MDFFC was founded to enter the Liga Mataba in order to give exposure to the players which are currently serving in the Defence Force as national servicemen while helping them gear up to play overseas once they complete their national service under Mataba. Most of the players are under-23 with an allowance of up to 5 overaged players registered per season and a max of 3 overaged players playing on the field.

Players are to stay with the team for 1 season on loan from their parent club until they finish their National Service and move on with their careers. Players may also choose to remain with the team if needed.

Stadium

MDFFC as a semi-professional football club has its office located in Mataba Business District.

The club plays its games in the Pafle Institution Pitch which is under the Pafle Institution.
