Mataba, officially Daau's Autonomous Region of Mataba (abbr. DMAT) is a special autonomous region located in the Northwestern part of Daau while stretching 2 miles into Krasnovlac. It has a total population of 230,000.

Mataba speaks the Matabese Dialect and the Daau Dialect. It is the only region in Daau which speaks Matabese.

The region was formed as the Matabese peacefully surrended to the Dauians in year 1606 when the Dauian Revolt took place, stating that the Matabese would like to be under protection and jurisdiction by Daau as they wish to live a peaceful life onwards from the Kozzakan colonization. Thus making Mataba under Daau but with more freedom and power than other regions in the country.

History

Great Matabese Founding

A group of Phinbellan immigrants from Daau wandered off into the western part of the country when they finally found water and other resources, the group quickly settled down in modern day Utopb.

The immigrants would name the area Yawangha, meaning blessing from the above as they finally found a place to rest and develop their own society.

War of the Sultan

A war occured shortly after the founding of the country with the two twin sons of the first Sultan Tyer Jobbat. The two brothers had opposing ideas and thought one was to murder the other in order to gain full power to the throne of their father after rumours of their father being in an urgent medical state. The civil war began 24 hours after the first sultan passed away with Brother Jhan Tyer invading bordering towns one by one in order to gain power and land in the mainland. He would however be fought back by Brother Azam Tyer in the Town of Juriskan days later. The civil war would continue as casualties kept rising throughout the month. The famous Matabese Royal Bay Mansion was burnt by angry civilians in return of the unrest caused by the monarchy.

The civil war however would be won by the 3rd force in play, Brother Idris Engka, first cousin to Tyer Jobbat's sons. He would then proclaim as the 2nd Sultan of Mataba, ascending to become Sultan Idris Engka shortly after the civil war.

The way Idris rose to power was quite eccentric as he managed to assasinate Azam Tyer and using his foreign relations to imprison Jhan Tyer days later, making him the sole person to inherit all the money and wealth left behind.

His rise to power meant that Azam and Jhan had lost their place in the monarchy and will be stripped of their ranks and wealth.

Special Administrative Region

Following his fathers death, Fadli Idris would contact neighbours Daau for help to rule over the once blessed land as he feared the 2nd coming of the civil war. Daau would quickly aid Mataba in order to help resurrect the fallen standards and social life of the Matabese citizens. Mataba would pledge loyalty to Daau in the following month, becoming Daau's first special administrative region.

Mataba would be given special rights by the Dauian government shortly after their acceptance into Daau as a special administrative region.

Present

Mataba is currently ruled using the monarchy system set by Idris Engka with a few changes by the Dauian government to ensure both sides' interests are protected. Rahndesh Fadli, son of Fadli Idris is the current sultan and his 1st cousin Kinasha Rohamidi is the Crown Prince.

Geography

Mataba is a land-locked region in Daau, surrounded by Krasnovlac and Dauian territory in its borders. Mataba is mostly flat land with barely any mountains near the region. Freshwater River Mata runs straight into Mataba meaning the Matabese people are rich in freshwater.

The region is also famous for its oil production, with it taking up 30% of Daau's oil production and trade due to the region being rich in oil and other resources.

Climate

The weather in Mataba is usually hot and humid. Temperatures range from 18° to 32° in a year.

Districts

Mataba has a population around 150,000 and has a life expectancy rate of 89.53 due to it being peaceful and the low tax rates in the country plus a fertility rate of 1.23 children per woman.

The Matabese people take up most of the popluation (99%) while the remaining 1% is shared between Krasnos and Dauians. Most Krasnos live in the northern part of the country due to Krasnovlac being there.

Mataba has a total of 3 districts, being the Central District, West District, North District.

Culture

Gender Inequality

As years of long monarchy and a simple set of rules set by the old Sultans, all Matabese women are discouraged to play sports from a young age as the country heavily favours men due to the ideology and the tradition. Mataba however does not ban women from playing sports or representing the country, but it is still not common for women to play sports in the region.

Only one women player has been awarded the Matabese People's Award.

Sports

Sports in Mataba is dominated by football as most of the citizens love watching and playing football due to foreign culture influencing the people. Mataba has its own league, the Liga Mataba, managed by the Mataba Football Federation. The league is counted as a Dauian league due to Mataba not being a FMF member yet. Mataba also has a football team which isn't allowed to represent the region due to Mataba not being a FMF member.

Safety

Mataba is considered as one of the safest regions in Daau due the population's own set of rules and their upholding of a high standard of discipline in their society. Only Jurong comes close as the safest region while Mataba holds the top spot for lowest crime rates and also the safest region/state in Daau.

Defence

Mataba has its own unit, the Mataba Defence Force (MDF). It is mostly made up of police and SWAT members. MDF currently has 5,000 serving soldiers with 2/3 being every day police officers. The MDF is known for its ruthlessness to criminals and its own flair of sucess in protecting the region.

Economy

Oil and Gasses

Mataba is known for being rich in crude in oil and natural gas, coming in 2nd place after Draguti following the Draguti Conflict. Thus making Mataba the oil capital for inland Daau and also a place where most rich businessman and top millionares of Daau reside with their families as it is close to where they extract the resources.

Trade

Although not well known as a trade port, Mataba has its own trade port south of the River Mata, the River Mata Port in Mataba is the regions sole trade port as the others were forced to shutdown due to financial issues within the economy.

Automotives

Known as the capital of all rich men, Mataba houses Daau's largest automotive factories in which include Bah Motors, Vikraja Motors and Mata Automobile. They all have their headquarters setup in the main capital of Mataba and have large production lines in the outskirts of the region with some extending to inland Daau.
