The World Association of Non-aligned Countries was an international cooperative organization formed in 1704 AN by Cisamarra, Hurmu and Sanama. Kildare and Meckelnburgh had joined shortly after. The goal of the organisation was to provide a forum for discussion and cooperation between non-aligned nations, defined as nations that are not members of the Raspur Pact or USSO, which was the only membership criteria.
Membership began declining in 1711 AN with the departure of Pacary. In late 1712 AN, Hurmu left WANC following an Order of the Holy Lakes internal referendum on the question. No summits were held after 1716 AN, and Sanama also left in early 1721 AN. As the last and only member, Meckelnburgh unilaterally voted to disband the organization on 18.XIII.1721.
Member nations
- Meckelnburgh (member since 1705, and final participant)
Former members
- Cisamarra (founding member, left in 1719)
- Kildare (member 1704 to 1707)
- Hurmu (founding member, left in 1712 following referendum)
- Qyzyl People's Republic (observer during 1707)
- Pacary (member 1707 to 1711)
- Sanama (founding member, left in 1720)
Events
Soon after the the funding of WANC, the syndicalist Democratic Apollonian Republic of Kildare (DARK) declared itself a founding member of the Organization, with the approval of Sanama.
Hurmu disputed these facts, saying that Hurmu has no relations with DARK, and that, moreover, DARK was an unrecognized state. In order for WANC to be completely non-aligned, then a pre-mature recognition of DARK might be implied as an anti-USSO and a pro-RP message, which the Hurmu government was keen to avoid (as it has been wrongfully accused many times of being pro-RP). Following the Hurmudan protest, it emerged that inexperienced Sanaman diplomats were to blame for an unfortunate misunderstanding regarding the status of Kildare. The possible membership was instead classified as "application received".
Once Kildare was internationally recognised after the dissolution of the Great Apollonian Empire, Kildare was given the honour of hosting the first annual summit of state parties.
During WANC's existence, Humanist members of the Senatorial Committee for Diplomatic Relations in Hurmu continue to oppose this organisation, including a boycott of its summit system. In 1705 AN, Meckelnburgh joined the organisation after a majority decision at the 1705 summit in Kildare.
As the last member, Meckelnburgh moved to disband WANC in 1721 AN. It was reported by the Royal Meckelnburgh Broadcasting Association that a final informal session was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and a stray cat over cheese and crackers.
