(OOC; WIP Page)

The Unwalic (Steadfast) Plan is the doctrine developed by the Ministry of Defence for the total defence of Nova England following a foreign invasion. The plan was developed and expanded following the completion of the Hild Plan and rising global tensions that later led to the War of Lost Brothers.

The essential objective of the plan is to project significant levels of attrition against invading forces to break their morale and any subsequent popular or political support. This objective is achieved through the four key pillars, these being The Shieldwall, The Burhs, The Sword and the Mountain.

The Shieldwall

The Shieldwall covers the defence of the Nova English coastline and takes into account the existing coastal defence plans enacted by Operation Broken Teeth. These are extended through the construction and deployment of anti-tank scaffolding, concrete pillboxes, barbed wire obstacles and community watchmen. Meanwhile the deep-water ports will be made ready with appropriated ships outfitted with demolition charges that can be scuttled to prevent the immediate use of port facilities. Should hostile craft making landing, then National Fryd, FPG, Nova English Navy or People’s Militia Units supported by the Nova English Royal Air Force will engage and hold the line.

The Burhs

The Burhs form the next line of defence should the Shieldwall be broken. Utilising a hedgehog strategy, the burhs are a number of settlements and locations outside the national redoubt that have been fortified and stocked to resist invading forces. Defences differ between locations due to local geography and resources but generally include anti-tank barriers, loopholes, concrete emplacements, rat-runs, supply caches, minefields and underground shelters. Burhs are expected to withstand protracted sieges and to utilise urban resistance when the Burhs defensive lines are broken. In addition to this they are expected to mutually support other burhs located nearby by undertaking sallies against hostile forces.

The Sword

The Sword represents the total resistance element of the plan. Upon activation the National Fryd and People’s Militia units will be required to support the efforts of the Nova English Armed Forces. In addition to this individual People’s Militia units will be tasked with utilising guerrilla tactics against the invading force. Other civilians will be encouraged to establish resistance groups with armaments and basic training being provided by the National Defence Initiative and other government agencies. The Royal Para-Military Police and officers of the National Police Force will also be utilised in defensive efforts. In addition to this all Private Military Contractors registered within the faedertellus would be nationalised and placed under the command of the Nova English Armed Forces.

Officers of the National Defence Initiative will prepare demolition works to unoccupied airfields, bridges, roads and the removal of signage to slow down the advance of invading forces. All civilians in occupied areas will be expected to report hostile troop movements and aid any retreating friendly forces. Meanwhile the Nova English Army supported by the Nova English Royal Air Force will undertake a staggered defence in support of the Burhs before holding the final line at the National Redoubt.

The Mountain

The last element of the Unwalic Plan is the Mountain, which is the final defensive line based around the National Redoubt. It utilises the various fortifications built into the mountains throughout the region. All Nova English forces engaged in operations in the National Redoubt are expected to enact maximum levels of attrition against hostile forces and hold the line for an indefinite time.

All civilians within the region not engaged in essential activities or existing militias will be conscripted into defence battalions. Logistics to support the defence of the national redoubt will be provided by existing infrastructure within the region and Military Supply Caches.

Resistance will continue until invading forces are removed from the faedertellus.
