National Police Force
The Nova English National Police Force is the only civil organisation that has the ability to enforce the law, the protection of property and to reduce civil disorder. The Nova English NPC was first established in 1934 in order to create a unified police force under the jurisdiction of the government in order to reduce the reliance of the older more decentralised system which was organised by local reeves and recruited local militias. The first branch of the NPF that was created was the Beweardian division which was tasked with the general duties of the police force. Whilst in 1936 the Witan passed the 'State Security Act 1936' which integrated the existing judicial court system known as the Office of Court Proceedings. Several years later as technology and the field of police forensics grew the Scon a specialised unit that dealt with forensics split off from the Beweardian division and became a separate division of the NPF itself.
As of yet the National Police Force solely consists of these three branches that have now each built up their own ethics and cultures. Each with their own Insignias as well as firm and distinct identities that set them selves apart. The NPF is also the only segment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs that has access to firearms for the due course of justice or in a time of war. As often contrary to public belief the MoIA has no power over the semi-civilian People's Militia or the Royal Para-Military Police both of which come under the authority of the Ministry of Defence.
Equipment
The NPF is an armed Police Force, with all officers issued a N.E.W 9mm Hi-Powered Pistol whilst patrol cars often carry additional equipment such as sub-machine guns like the G36C or Assault Rifles. The NPF has often faced criticism for this but insists that it is the duty of the NPF to defend that law of this country in both wartime and from violent crime within the Fatherland making armed Officers a major priority. Specialist officers also have access to various other weaponry and the ability to use the NPF's contingent of L-10 Armoured Personnel Carriers.
Organisation
In terms of organisation the NPF has the Hildewisa who acts as the main authority over all of the regional NPF wards and the Sæt Witan. Which in turn is a council formed from the various Chief Sheriffs from each branch for every NPF ward. The Hildewisa is often selected by the Minister of Internal Affairs after a recommendation by the Saet Council. He/She would need to have a very long service record and great expertise before the decision to grant this very prestigious position to the person in question. Often a new Hildewisa is selected every five or so years. Further Rankings that are used by the NPF can be seen in the organisational chart below. Current manning of the National Police Force stands at around 14,950 officers split between the thirteen regional wards.
