Trịnh Nhật Hùng is a Matabese professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder or a winger. He plays at club level for Daau Super League club Bintang Lukana.

Youth career

Cai Mak Academy

Hùng would start his career at the age of 15, playing with the local side Cai Mak Academy in the Matabese youth leagues. During his first season, he scored 42 goals in 38 appearances, earning local media attention for his efforts. In his second season, however, Hung suffered from a heavy injury and was only able to play 14 games, scoring 12 in then.

Trials

After his recovery from injury and his outstanding performances following his injury, Nhat Hung was offered trials around Daau, notably being Daau United and Jurong West. Trinh attended trials at Daau United, Jurong West, and Seragaan United but failed to entertain any offers.

His family advised him to give up on football but Hung kept trying to find a club on his way back, going to an extent to email the chairmans and managers his resume.

Senior career

Bintang Lukana

Following his failure to entertain offers during his trials, an offer came in from Bintang during the 2021 summer for Hung to join their youth team. Without hesitation, Hung joined Bintang on a 2-year deal, starting off in their B team in the Daau League. He would continue to impress further in the season and was promoted to the senior team for the 2022-23 season. He then made his senior debut in the opening match of the season.

Following the end of his loan with Sultan FC, his clause was not activated by the Royals as the club was on the search for a more clinical finisher, thus Nhat Hung returned to Bintang and has been given the role to fill up the boots star striker Clover bin Clover created up top.

Loan to Sultan FC

Due to the lack of first team gametime and fitness issues, Nhat Hung was forced to sit out and watch his team play without him, due to this the club decided to loan him out to Matabese outfit Sultan FC for half a season in order for him to regain his fitness and find confidence oncemore. On January 15th 2023, it was announced that the young striker prodigy was loaned to Liga Mataba club Sultan FC on a season-long loan spell to help him regain his form and also attract offers. It was then acknowledged that the loan was going to be a permanent move if Sultan FC were to activate a certain clause in the loan spell.

Hung managed 13 appearances for the Royals across all competitions and scored 10 goals during his loan spell with the club. He was named signing of the season as his impressive goalscoring form allowed Sultan FC to claim the Sultan Cup title.

International career

Although he received offers from both sides, Daau and Mataba, Hung accepted the call-up for the Daau national team in December in preparation for international friendlies and eventually made the cut, replacing the injured Abdulrahman. Hung however did not make his debut in both games and were kept on the bench.

On 17th February it was announced that Hung had switched to Mataba instead of Daau due to a more attractive offer from the MFF.

Personal life

Trịnh Nhật Hùng is the younger brother of Trịnh Huy Khoa who plays for Pahmer FC, and the older brother of Trịnh Tuấn Hải, playing for Sultan FC's B team.
