George Lanata was a former Gerenian football manager who worked professionally for Clementsgrad United, and the Gerenia national team.
Personal life and amateur career
Lanata was born in September 1960 in the northeastern town of Taizun; however, he moved to Port Isherwood soon afterwards. He was raised in the southern suburb of Seerom.
Lanata had a number of jobs before his first experience as a football manager. Between 2005 and early 2012, Lanata managed several amateur teams, and won two titles within that period.
Since December 2011, Lanata is living in Klämen with his wife and their two children.
Professional career
Lanata applied for his first professional managerial job at Clementsgrad United in mid-2012. He was immediately hired, as the club's directors saw that Lanata was more experienced than the Gerenian League 1 managers.
During the 2012–13 season, Lanata instilled Clementsgrad United players a free-flowing, attacking style, which consolidated the club as one of the best sides in Gerenia. The team first won the Stage One of League 2, which meant automatic promotion to League 1, reached semi-finals of the Gerenian National Cup, and were runner-up of the Second Champioship of League 1 in their first season. Among the players who were key in the campaign, it can be mentioned goalkeeper Režan Arkuse, midfielders Kerry Johnston and Juvenal Paran, and forwards Brad Paddock and Senyan Îdœntlîk Kelogzkrunčënut.
In early June, 2013, upon leave of José Eraŷeŷ, Lanata was offered the post of manager of the Gerenia national team, which he accepted. Lanata took Gerenia to the Copa Apollonia semi-finals in 2013. The following year, Gerenia won the tournament the following year, and also qualified for the FMF World Cup for their very first time.
After the 2014 FMF World Cup ended, Lanata decided to retire, and thus left his post, eventually being succeeded by Hammish Ian Elsztain.
