The Norse language is a collection of largely mutually intelligible dialects (each one largely with its own written standard). The various dialects are often spoken of as unique languages.

Dialects

  • Proto-Norse [Old Norse]
      • Hurmu–Norse languages
        • Hurmu (in Hurmu), aka Farewellish (in Elwynn) (cross-ish between Faroese and Scandinavian conlang)
          • Lake District Norse (standard Hurmu Norse)
          • Farewellish (in Elwynn)
          • Kaupang dialect (in eastern Lake District)
        • Normarkic languages
          • Army Crandish / Norrlandic (basically Swedish)
          • Humlebækish/Amalandic (Danish, Humlebæk, Amaland)
          • High Norse [Norwegian]
            • Normark Norse [Bokmål]
            • Nidarosian Norse [Nynorsk]
        • Valtic–Storish group (Icelandic)
          • Valtian
            • Storish
