Nieuw Rotterdam, a ruinous city of Zandt foundation, formerly under the sovereignty of Craitland, situated on the southeastern coast of Cibola in the Green portion of that continent.

History

Zandarijn

Founded as one of the establishing cities of the Craitish dominion of Zandarijn in 1528 AN, Nieuw Rotterdam acted as the territory's primary southerly port prior to the formation of Volksburg in 1529 AN, after which its importance waned.

The city's Kuip Stadium played host to Zandt League outfit SV Magister following their creation as an expansion club.

Modern day

A true history of the settlement will be written, in accordance with ancient custom, once knowledgeable natives have been found for interrogation and put to the torture under the supervision of an antiquarian assisted by a dragoman versed in the barbarous vernacular.

The rise of Etzeland and Steerswick to the west and north of Whales in the first decade of the 18th century after Norton had blocked the customary trails, followed by the Honourable Company, into the Cioblan interior for the purpose of taking kuls and organ-donors back to the markets of Chur. Accordingly new sources of human capital were obliged to be sought.

Attention turned to the formerly Craitish Zandarijn. Evacuated immediately prior to the Ludwiggian-Monovian War, and subsequently left ungoverned, the territory was ripe for exploitation.

The 1706 Decree in Whales on the Plantation of Nieuw Rotterdam provided provided for the establishment of a colonial company and the dispatch of an expedition to the city to facilitate the establishment of a base from which to commence the exploitation of Monovia.

In late 1707 AN, the factors established on the site were instructed to set aside a store of schnapps, salt cod, rye bread, and blood-sausage, sufficient to feed any passing patrol of the Dragonerkorps Ludwigshafen. Further instructions were provided, on account of the renewed hostilities, that the Captain-General was to post armed sentries as pickets and to keep any Monovians resident in the vicinity outside of the stockade, warehouse and trading house, between the hours of seven in the evening and seven in the morning.

The settlement was subsequently attacked by a large native host organised, into six demi-regiments, on 2.XIV.1708. In spite of close air support provided by the gun-cutter of the Whales Auxiliary Force, the defenders were subsequently obliged to fire and abandon the stockade and outbuildings once the outer firing lines had been overrun.

In 1725 AN, a Saxon noble named Ludwig von Heida-Weisse led an expedition into the city and captured it with very little resistance from the natives who resided in the ruins. He soon renamed the city in his name, naming it Weisenburg.
