The Diet of the Clear Sea, established in 1628 by the entry into force of the Treaty of the Clear Sea, is a former conference of the leaders of some of the former electorates (subdivisions) of Upper Cranda, viz.:

  • The Duchy of Anglien
  • The Kingdom of Eesdeheito
  • The Jarlorð of Jorvik
  • The Duchy of Jutien
  • The Khaganate of Lontinien
  • The Duchy the Vaan Aujoen

History

When Upper Cranda was dissolved in 1510, its territories were divided as follows:

Four years later, the Atkins Resolution of the MCS forced all these countries to renounce their claims on these territories.

More than a hundred years later – after the rise and fall of Novatainia, Toketi and the Gralan Empire – the heads of state of Stormark, Gotzborg, Natopia, and Alexandria met to discuss the regaining of some of these territories. They agreed to divide up some of the areas as follows:

The Treaty also recognised the titles over the territories as follows:

  • His Imperial Majesty the Emperor of the Alexandrians in His Capacity of Duke and Grand Elector of Anglien;
  • His Royal Majesty the King of Gotzborg in His Capacity of Duke and Grand Elector of Jutien;
  • His Most Bovic Majesty the Emperor of the Natopians in His Capacity of Jarl and Grand Elector of Jorvik;
  • His Imperial and Royal Majesty the High King of Stormark in His Capacity of King and Grand Elector of Eesdeheito, Khagan of Lontinien, and Duke of the Vaan Aujoen.

Furthermore, the Treaty also held that "it is hereby explicitly declared that the Grand Electorates which are mentioned in the preceding subarticle shall be vested in the Thrones of the various High Contracting Parties and shall devolve with the same in accordance with the constitutional and legal mechanisms of each High Contracting Party."

Succession

Duke and Grand Elector of Anglien

Given to and vested in the Emperor of the Alexandrians:

  • 1510–1514: Edgard I (sovereign duke, Emperor of the Alexandrians)
  • 1628–1651: Edgard II (sovereign duke, Emperor of the Alexandrians)
  • 1651–present: Francis Joseph (Duke of Anglien, nominal title)

In 1651, Alexandria was dissolved after the Alexandrian Flu, leaving no successor. The titular emperor of the Alexandrians, Francis Joseph, the son and heir-apparent of Edgard II, claims the title Duke and Grand Elector of Anglien.

Duke and Grand Elector of Jutien

Jarl and Grand Elector of Jorvik

  • Naian, Emperor of the Natopians, Jarl and Grand Elector of Jorvik (1628–1632)

In 1632, Natopia ceded the title over Jorvik to King Noah of Elwynn. It was agreed, however, that all members of the House of Waffel-Paine be granted the title Lord/Lady in Jorvik as a commiseration prize.

  • 1632–1651: Noah, King of Elwynn, Jarl and Grand Elector of Jorvik

In 1651, through the Auspicious Occasion, Noah was removed from his kingship in favour of his son Vilhjalm:

  • 1651–1652: Vilhjalm, King of Elwynn, Jarl and Grand Elector of Jorvik

In 1652, the Imperial Republic renounced all title, right and claim to Jorvik. With the title of Jarl of Jorvik having merged with the head of state of Elwynn, however, it could be argued that its succession of the title continued as follows;

  • 1652–1653: Vilhjalm, King of Elwynn, Jarl and Grand Elector of Jorvik (nominal)
  • 1653: Vilhjalm, Prince of the Elwynnese Republic, Jarl and Grand Elector of Jorvik (nominal)
  • 1653–1658: Liv Dravot, Princess of the Elwynnese Republic, Countess and Grand Electress of Jorvik (nominal)
  • 1658–1661: Aldin, Prince of the Elwynnese Republic, Jarl and Grand Elector of Jorvik (nominal)
  • 1661–1665: Eki Aholibamah Verion, Princess of the Elwynnese Republic, Countess and Grand Electress of Jorvik (nominal)

In 1665, the imperial states were dissolved and their titles were merged with the Kaisership. From then on, it may be argued that the title was succeeded as follows:

King and Grand Elector of Eesdeheito

Title had been held by Harald in his capacity as High King of Stormark until 1685 when Stormark was dissolved leaving no heirs.

Arguably, the HurmuLac Glaceian condominium of Eesdeheito should be regarded as the successor to the sovereignty over Eesdeheito including its royal and grand electoral titles.

Khagan of Lontinien

Duke of the Vaan Aujoen
