The Tarr people are an indigenous people of Graecia, evacuated therefrom in 1687. Traditionally, nomadic and without a central governance within them, they are a tribal people where loyalties are found within select tribes or families. In 1687, the Tarr people were divided with half of them residing in Shireroth as protected persons of the Kaiseress, one quarter of them in Chryse, and one quarter in Station Kaamiozyr, nowadays Tarria, under Çakari flag

History

The Graecian state has not managed to find the real origins of the Tarr people, but they seem to originate from mainland central Keltia. This would put them in the Atterano-Skerrian family of nations, probably bearing a degree of kinship, and reprehensibility, with the Dromosker and Androphagi in consequence.

In Greacia, the Tarr people were associated with violence, gang warfare, and drug trade. The Graecian government had repeatedly tried, but failed, to organize this people in a communist society. It was also unknown why they have such contra-revolutionary behaviour, but the Graecian state believed that they developed such behaviours in so in the period in-between the collapse of Taeland and the foundation of Graecia, when the island of Graecia was abandoned.

As Graecian authorities had pointed out before, the Tarr people were very difficult to control. The Tarr people had found a series of ways to manipulate the young and inexperienced Graecian police, either by bribing State officers (many of whom are facing trials of high treason), or creating false accusations of police violence, so the police has been unable do deal with them. Graecia accuses the Tarr people of not wanting to integrate with the society. The vast majority of Graecians works in the factories, only to understand that their taxes are spent on the failed attempts of the State to integrate these people into society; While the median Graecian has his daily money from working, the Tarr receive more by just exploiting the integration money given to them by the state and committing robberies.

In 1687, Graecia hinted that mass killing of the Tarr people might be the only solution facing the Graecian society, lest the entire society might collapse. Chryse objected to this language, and Graecia called on Chryse to assist. As such, Chryse and Graecia concluded the Chryse–Graecia Friendship Treaty in which they, among other things, decided to transfer the entirety of the Tarr nation to Chrysean protection. Chryse, realizing too late that it could impossibly house close to a million people in its small city state, established with the help of the House of Laegel an agricultural colony of the same name in the Antilles where one quarter of the Tarr nation went. One quarter was taken to Chryse's city state, and half of all Tarr were granted the status of protected people of the Kaiseress in Shireroth.

In 1690 the Elwynnese Court of Star Chamber began an investigation into crimes against humanity conducted by Chrysean and Graecian authorities against the Tarr peoples. At the same time, all Tarr people under Elwynnese jurisdiction were given Elwynnese nationality and civil rights for the first time in their lives.

During the Second Elwynnese Civil War (1692–1696), the Tarr people in Station Kaamiozyr, constituting more than 90% of the population there, declared their independence as the Republic of Tarrland and appointed their leader, Rusty, as its first and only president. This short-lived nation was ruthlessly destroyed in what became known as the Tarr genocide in 1694, perpetrated by the Black Legions and the Union Defence Force and killing more than 200,000 members of the Tarr nation, effectively cleansing Kaamiozyr from any Tarr stain.

The Tarr in Shireroth and Chryse have survived, though in Shireroth, they are all indentured servants. Their situation in Chryse was unknown until 1702 AN when reports of their transfer en masse to the camps of the Benacian Labour Reserve in Amokolia began to circulate.

A small number of Tarrs were known to have been sold into Kul servitude in the Suren Confederacy, and by 1701 AN their numbers were sufficient for the Majles-e Suren to enact a law regulating their status.

Language

They speak the Tarr language. It is believed to be a creole mix of Istvanistani and other local languages. No scholar has attempted to make a report about this language, and, as such, we know nearly nothing about it.
