The Six Nations Football League is the domestic football competition in The Hexarchy. It consists of four teams, comprising only native players, and the season's champions earn the right to represent the national team in its following competitive obligations.

History

Following The Hexarchy's FMF membership acquisition, headquarters for the national team's management were quickly founded in the city of Kobol, where a sizeable stadium of the same name was built on an adjacent resort island with easy sea access for tourists. The concept of a unified team was dissolved after infighting within the Hexarchy's various governments, and thus split in 1688 AN into four distinct teams that qualify each year for the FMF at the national level.

In the same year, strict rules were put into place that prevent foreign players from competing in regional qualifier matches. Any incoming traded foreign players (or even recent immigrants) are similarly barred from regional qualifiers. Such players then join one of the Six Nations Teams on any and all international friendly or competitive rounds, and/or the team that most recently qualified on the national level.

Teams

Before 1707

The first team to form, Pyrax United, is based in the city of Azul'an and is run jointly by the governments of Pyrax and Suza.

The second team is called the Ashtaroth Eagles. It is funded in part by the central government of Asshyria and is based in the port city of Ashtaroth. After the entire team was converted into the Hexarchy Eagles, it was then made the national football team in commemoration of its debut appearance (albeit an aborted one in the playoffs) in the 2021 FMF World Cup.

The third team is known as the Eridu Dragons and is hosted in Enkidu.

The final team is called the Kanaloa Giants. They are funded entirely by the city of Kobol and are based there instead of in their namesake city through a closed-door arrangement between unknown parties.

The teams undertook reforms starting in 1707 AN, and are expected to complete their major expansions in the country's respective clubs and home stadiums some time after 1715 AN.

After 1715 AN

The reforms in 1715, planned to be carried out after the close of the 2022 EMU Championships, kicked off the much anticipated reforms of the domestic clubs of The Hexarchy, with several national football associations with the Six Nations League being the nation's top division. The Six Nations League composes of 20 teams, including one from Lysstyrer, which has its own attendant leagues under a previous treaty giving it rights to join Six Nations tournaments.

The Six Nations League holds a round robin style of tournament in which each team plays another over the course of the year. A championship is then held with the top 8 teams for rights to send at least half the needed players to join the The Hexarchy national football team when the annual draft opens. On occasion, teams are given the honor of designating a name for themselves by the Praetor for members' accomplishments on and off the field, one example being the Ereshkigal Predators after the team's members helped tame the same forest.

The expenses of setting up talented players for the league, as well as building additional stadiums, is expected to take at least 5 to 10 years longer, with stadiums already having broken ground as early as 1700 AN, and the last ones slated for completion in the current expansion plans in 1720 AN.
