Shirekeep blockade
The Blockade of Shirekeep was a defacto consequence of the reciprocal closures of the common frontier between the Benacian Union and Shireroth following the Sansabury incident and ensuing Day of Rage, which had escalated the Shiro-Benacian Cold War into a so-called "hybrid war".
As a consequence of the Kalirion Fracture, Shirekeep, the capital of the Imperial Republic, was all precariously placed in a salient flanked on two sides by the now hostile Benacian Union, and separated from the remainder of Benacian Shireroth by the confluence of the River Elwynn. With the Red Elwynn between Ohttrazdbarh and Teldrin controlled by the Union-State, the riverine traffic of the Imperial Republic from Shirekeep southwards to Musica was interdicted by a series of boom defences and the patrols of the Riverine Fleet.
Air traffic bound to and from Shirekeep-Foley Aerodrome was also subjected escalating harassment and electronic interference from 1730 AN onwards.
Beginning in 1732 AN the blockade was coordinated by the Special Task Force of the Confluence under the direction of Benacia Command.
